[Plexamp Beta] Audio crashes repeatedly

This is an issue that has been happening to me for several betas now.

The audio playback repeatedly stops, seemingly at random, for a few weeks now. Sometimes the audio stops but the android media player keeps going, sometimes the app fully crashes. Going back into the app fixes it but it happens repeatedly.

It happens when I’m connected on my home network, remotely and even when listening offline so I don’t think it’s a connection issue.

Your logs show each stop arriving as a pause command from Bluetooth, then the audio switching back to the phone a few seconds later, so the headset is disconnecting and Android pauses on that. What headphones are these, and does it happen with another pair or the phone speaker? The restarts are Android closing the app while it sits paused in the background, not a crash.

My headphones are CMF by Nothing Buds 2.

I don’t usually listen on phone speaker, but from what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to happen.

I don’t use it on speaker, usually only on Bluetooth. It has also happened to me while connected by Bluetooth to two different hi-fi systems. I’ve just tried again and it has happened to me while connected to the hi-fi (on a Yamaha R-N602). Here are the last two logs. It happened around 19:40 at the beginning of a song called “Geile Welt”.

Thanks, that log shows it: the stop came as Plexamp switched sample rates between songs, which briefly looked like a pause, and Android then froze it in the background. Until the next beta fixes that, setting Sample Rate Matching (Settings › Playback) to Disabled should stop it, and over Bluetooth it isn’t buying you anything anyway.
