Used to be able to play content from my server and also offline media in Plexamp (3.2.2) when connected to USB in my Nissan Altima perfectly!
Now, cannot play back an album (Apple Music seems to be preventing it), when trying to switch to a different album. For clarification: when I first launch plexamp, I can play an album BUT… if while that album is playing, I want to switch to another album, I can’t. The album shows up in the Plexamp app but Apple Music starts playing no matter how many times I press play. I hear a slight pause in the Apple Music track that is playing, but then Plexamp just doesn’t take over and then Apple Music starts playing again.
The only way it works is if you force-quit the Plexamp application in iOS then re-launch it. Then that next album that you previously selected will start playing.
This “does not happen” in the Plex (7.9) app, but I like the Plexamp app better for playing my music.
Hopefully this can be fixed, because it was a non-issue before. I just became a Plex pass user specifically so I could use the awesome Plexamp app, but it’s not functioning like it used to.
If the Plex app provided the ability to keep the screen awake, I’d just continue to use that app, but the screen keeps going dark and the iPhone locking, which is an issue when I’m driving.
So I guess the asks here are, fix the Plexamp app so switching albums works again, when connected through USB in vehicle and add the option to keep the screen awake in the PLEX iOS app.
(File removed) Thank you for responding. Please see attached log file. The two albums that would not play after the the initial album are the Fall of Rebel Angel and to Duke Dumont. The first song of each album starts playing 1, 2, 3, 4 seconds then back to 0, then repeat! Let me know how else I can help troubleshoot. I have not deleted Apple Music because I use it for albums I do not own.
I’ve tried this previously when the Music app seemed to be messing with Plex playback (not Plex Amp - before it’s time) and this resulted in a complete inability to play anything via my head unit. In my experience I’ve found I had to have Music loaded and also had to have at least one local track synced. I think it has to do with the way head units that have Made for iPod certification seem to look specifically for the Music app (or previous incarnations) to auto play from when connected. If it can’t find it, it just bombs out.
I have the EXACT same results from previous tries at removing Apple Music. If I do, my Nissan won’t play anything from any audio app. It throws an error. I know that there is definitely something that can be done programmatically to stop the issue though. The Plex app works perfectly at playing music and changing tracks, albums etc… in iOS and Plexamp “did”. Spotify, Amazon music, Deezer, Pandora, iHeart etc… also work perfectly, BUT, I found that Tidal, Tune-In and many others do not! So, it’s definitely fixable with the knowledge of adding in the right code to stop the constant seeking to switch to Apple Music. Hopefully, that programming code can be put back into Plexamp. It’s my go-to app for playing my HQ FLAC files instead of Apple Music 256 kbps tracks while driving.
I can verify that on or near September 1st, it was working fine. At that time, I had purchased a Plex Pass and decided to cancel for other reasons. I was using Plexamp heavily in my vehicle and it did not do this. Something either changed in the app OR iOS 14 may be to blame. I don’t have another iOS device on iOS 13 to compare with, otherwise I’d gladly do so to help troubleshoot this version of Plexamp, iOS 13 and iOS 14, etc… to see what’s causing it.
