PlexAmp doesn't work on cellular, and PLEX App only plays video and not music

Server Version#: 4.61.2
Plexamp Version#: 3.5.0
PLEX App Version#: 8.20.0.26605

I’m not able to use Plexamp at all while on cellular, it works fine in WiFi but on cellular it’s unable to retrieve any data from my server.
I tried clearing the cache and storage of the app and it wouldn’t even let me log in on cellular, I had to be on WiFi.

Additionally I cant listen to any audio-only content on the PLEX app while on cellular, I can watch video content perfectly fine, such as films & TV, but audio content works perfectly fine on WiFi

This applies to all WiFi networks, not just my home network, as the apps worked perfectly fine on my work WiFi a city over.

Plexamp log:
plexamp-2506247218473.zip (108.7 KB)

PLEX App log:
plex-log.zip (509.2 KB)

PMS log:
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-07-14_22-38-55.zip (5.6 MB)

That is happening to me since yesterday after updating the plex server software… I will not update it anymore… Every time is a different issue…

@eBellmer Could this be a carrier thing maybe? I have the same versions that you do with no issue using Verizon.

Have you tried rebooting the system that runs your Plex server?

I’m on EE in the UK just for reference.
First thing I tried was restarting my PMS box, I originally thought PMs had crashed until I started testing further and found that video content would work fine.

Phone is a Microsoft Surface Duo on Android 10 just in case that’s a factor too.

Seems like some pretty severe networking issues contacting even plex.tv

Is there something I can do to test this further on the device?
I can access plex.tv and app.plex.tv through the Edge browser on the device and play content that way, but the apps don’t work.

Just a quick update to this.
Today I had an issue where PMS wouldn’t start, and was reporting that the database was locked.
After a lot of experimenting and rolling back to two different backups it seems that PMS has taken a sudden disliking to running on ZFS on my Proxmox box.
I moved the container disk to a n ext4 HDD and PMS started up fine.

This is relevant because since this occurred I decided to re-test the issues I was having with the Android apps and I can no longer replicate the issues.

I’m going to keep testing this and monitoring the PMS system for stability, and I’ll post any updates here.

EDIT 28/10: what I though were ZFS issues were actually the database locking issue from a few versions back, I’ve only just got back to testing this and whatever caused the app to work over cellular no longer works.

I’m a bit late to the party but I am an EE customer using a Surface Duo experiencing the same issue. 0.o

Perhaps you could share some logs and explain the exact issue you’re having?

No problem, I’ll get some info together and share tomorrow.
