This issue seems to have happened within the last week.
I was just in Spain and it was working ok. This week, back in the UK it’s unable to reach my server off my local LAN. The main Plex app works fine in the same way.
I have logs from this attempt.
I’ve removed the app and re-downloaded, but now cannot log in as I get an unknown error. Oddly, this is what occurred with my phone not on my local network, rather cellular. On my local LAN it’s ok.
So whether this is some interaction between the phone on cellular and the app I cannot say but seems like it. But I will say I’m on the iOS 15.6 beta. That is the only change within the last week.
Sorry if that came off wrong, I’m happy to look at a debug log. If you’re unable to log in, long press in the sign in button and it will allow you to share logs.
It was 15.6 beta 3 originally. Beta 5 shows no change.
It’s odd that this seemingly only affects this particular app from what I can tell. I see no other issues with any app when only on cellular. In the context of Plex applications, Plex, v8.5 works just fine on this iOS version. Plexamp, v4.2.2 doesn’t.
There is no VPN. Any connectivity using the the phone as a hotspot on cellular has no issue.
So, back to Plexamp vs Plex, do they both effectively do the same thing in terms of what they look up? It was indicated that the phone cannot resolve plex.tv. I presume both apps do largely the same thing. So how do we determine what the issue is…and whose issue it is.
plex uses the cocoa networking stuff, whereas plexamp uses libcurl under the hood.
on vacation this week, but DM me a set of plex and plexamp logs and i’ll see if anything stands out, and please include any other details which might be salient in terms of your cellular connection (e…g ipv6, … whatever else)
