Can't Login to Plexamp with Sony Xperia One

I have an “unknown error” issue with Plexamp:

I can not login to Plexamp App [or the login from browser option] on my Sony mobile phone. It is related to just the Plexamp app and my device. I took my SIM card out and stuck it in an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy phone and both [while on cellular] had NO issue installing and using the Plexamp app. So it is not my cel phone provider [T-mobile] and it is not related to my home server or Plex remote access as no one else is having issues with Plex, Plex apps, or Plexamp on their devices.

Maybe Plex server has a list of blocked devices or MAC addresses somewhere?? or maybe it is something about the Sony Xperia and the Plexamp app??

Does anyone know if there is a list of mobile devices with compatibility issues?

By the way my server is accessible remotely. Port forwarding is setup correctly, I can connect to it and have been for a long long time.

Help , any suggestions please???

Just captured this:

Gets a security warning when on cellular connection but if I enable wifi (any wifi) at Work, Starbucks, Home Depot for example, the authentication request goes through without warning.

Anyone how to get some help other than these forums which are dead?

So just to clarify, you’re having an issue with cellular + Sony Xperia, but nowhere else? It works on WiFi, cellular on other phones if I’m reading correctly.

Based on that warning you see in the browser, I’d guess there’s some sort of SSL proxy, whether on your phone or the network provider, or else your DNS has been polluted somehow. That error message is shown in cases of “probable phishing”.

In summary, nothing on our end, something potentially malicious on your phone.

Thank you for the input Elan. Yes, only on my phone when on cellular.

Unfortunately, I just got the phone and it worked for the first day then it stopped. My old phone works when I put my SIM in it as well.
Yesterday I did a full factory wipe and it is still happening. If there is no way to clear (whatever it is) then my only recourse is to buy a new phone?!?

I would hate to say you need to buy a new phone, and if whatever it is survived a factory reboot, likely something related to your cellular provider (and I realize the same SIM worked on another phone).

If you have the ability to pull logcat off the device, there might be some clues in there if you’re trying to log in via the app proper.

I am, but don’t know what/where the logs are located.
Thanks!

look in the /data/data directory under the plexamp app in the logs subdirectory.

I ended up removing my SIM card and testing another different phone and that phone did not have any issue with Plexamp over cellular.

Next, I added a different SIM card into my Xperia and Plexamp over cellular started working again?!?

Last I put the SIM cards back into the original phones and now all is GOOD!

I don’t know what the heck was going on but that fixed the issue.
Thanks Elan for the input and the amazing Plex products!

Wow, that is really weird!

All’s well that ends well?
