So far I’m liking the “mixes for you” feature (and other super sonic player features) that’s available via sonic analysis. However, I’d like to make one suggestion for what I think would make this feature much better.
Feature request: I’d like the ability to EXCLUDE tracks with certain rating(s) from being played.
Background: My tracks fall three categories: Unrated, one star (don’t like), or five star (like). I’d really like the ability to EXCLUDE all tracks with one star from being played. Thus the end result would be only tracks that are un-rated or five stars to be apart of the mix.
Right, but it doesn’t seem to be taken into account for the new Super Sonic features. I routinely get “1” star rated tracks in the “mixes for you” which makes that feature practically worthless. I NEVER want to hear a ‘1’ start track. Full stop.
I agree. Tracks marked as 1 star should be excluded from mixes. The user has gone through the trouble of rating tracks - it is not fair to ignore that in creating the mixes.
BTW…I am totally thrilled with sonic analysis. I have over 12K albums and discovery was a pain. I tried to rate most of my songs, but sonic analysis takes Plex to a different level. There are few other suggestions that I have regarding mixes, but I will hold on to them until I have tested things a little more and create a separate thread for the same.
I’ve been using “mixes for you” more today and about 20% of the tracks it thinks I want to hear are already rated 1 star. I just can’t use the “for you” feature when it plays tracks that I really dislike. Totally ruins the experience. I don’t know what “towards the ends” means in the heuristic, but I flat out want to exclude 1 star tracks.
I can understand where you’re coming from. Do you have Smart Shuffle disabled on your server, by any chance? What I meant about “towards the end” is that low rated tracks should appear towards the end of the mix (they’re pushed back), but only if you have smart shuffle on.
I know this is a bigger can of worms, but I would love a way to exclude albums/genres in these new shuffled Radio features. I’m a music teacher, so I have a lot of tracks that are for instructional purposes only that are popping up in my mixes. I know I could make these into their own library, but I’m also running Plex and iTunes concurrently, from the same folders.
I’m thinking in order to maintain dual operations of my Music folder, I should use the .plexignore feature and copy the “teaching folders” to a separate location for a new library.
This may also somewhat solve the issue needing playlist management (folders), since there is a separate playlist tab per library. Though there is music in my personal library that I use in teaching, this will at least help.
I’m glad I actually somewhat enjoy this level of library curation.
