Plexamp & GoogleCast wrong behavior

Hi, I would like to submit the following concern when using Plexamp and GoogleCast streaming:

I have a speaker that can play different sources such as Googlecast, Airplay, Line-In or Internet music services.

Test case:

  • Start a Plexamp music flow leveraging Googlecast against the speaker.
  • Switch to another source in the speaker via the relevant application, e.g. Internet Radio.
  • Plexamp/Googlecast flow is stopped
  • New source is activated briefly before Plexamp/Googlecast connects back to the speaker, without any music flow going on.
  • Googlecast link to speaker remains connected.

On the contrary, PLEX app with Googlecast behaves correctly (imo): once the new source has replaced PLEX/Googlecast flow, the PLEX app stops streaming and frees the Googlecast link to the speaker.

Hope for a fix!

I’m confused.

If it’s working as expected what is there to fix?

PLEXAMP App is not behaving correctly, PLEX App is.

Ah gotcha.

hmm, possibly plexamp sees this as a recoverable situation and tries to reconnect. any chance for plexamp log (settings > advanced > debugging)?

Hi, thanks for having a look. I have uploaded the log.

Here is the test case:
Date Oct 7th 2020
Time: 10:22 AM CET
Logs generated 10:23 AM CET

My device, B&O Core, can play various sources such as Deezer, TuneIn, DLNA, line-in, Airplay(2) and Googlecast
A TV sound output is plugged into the devices’ optical-in
The TV sound is on mute
I start Plexamp 3.2.1 on an iPhone XR IOS 14.0.1
I select the device’s GoogleCast icon
Plexamp resumes previously started music flow
I unmute the TV which activates the Optical-in source thus stops the Plexamp flow (10:23:05)
Plexamp reactivates the Googlecast link to the device which switches to Googlecast source thus stops the TV sound

Note 1: I replaced my internal and external subnet address with xxx and yyy
Note 2: Plexamp keeps linking to the Googlecast target until I choose another speaker

Question: Why in the log do we see traffic using the external path (internet address) to the server instead of internal one?

Kind regards

… and for comparison, here is the PLEX log, where we can see that the connection is closed after the force disconnect triggered by the speaker while changing its source.
This way the new source on the speaker stays on and PLEX returns to its default local speaker which makes sense for me.
