Plexamp headless on Rpi streaming to Onkyo RZ50

I set up a headless Rpi that streams to my Onkyo RZ50. The audio works well, and the various apps either on my Android or computer or the browser also work well on these devices.

I used to run Moode and it would cast the browser app to the TV so we could make good use of the big screen for the album art with the music that was playing. Is this possible with plex headless?

My question now is how to cast the album app or frankly the album art to the TV that is also connected to the AVR.

All that shows for the moment is the Rpi operating system.

Can you somehow show the window of a web browser on your TV?
http://ip-of-the-pi:32500/ will give you the user interface of the headless player in your web browser.

Running off the browser in the Plexamp Rpi IP as you suggested and that works great to make use of the big screen TV for album art and status.

Excellent and thank you very much for this advice!

I am running plexamp headless v. 4.10.1 and now I am getting stutters when streaming 24-192 FLAC.

Are you aware if this issue, and is there a patch coming for this, please?

that version on headless/linux did have an issue with caching and prefetch speed … has since been fixed, current version is 4.11.1

Ok, 4.11.1 update worked for 2ch FLAC running at 24-192.

How do I increase buffering time in plexamp headless mode?

6ch 24-96 FLAC seems to have a buffering issue, now. They sound correct, but I get a spinning gif during the music while it seems to be buffering.

What generation of RasPi do you use?
What kind (brand) of SD card is in there?
On an older RasPi3, I have never managed to stream anything above 24bit 96kHz stereo losslessly without buffering issues.
Your best bet is to enter the settings menu of the Plexamp on the Pi and set it to cache less ahead. You can also play with the bandwidth setting, to reduce stress on the SD card.
But eventually, you might have to set a hard bandwidth limit, above which the Pi will switch to transcoding.

Running a Pi 4 and streaming from Synology NAS. 2ch 24-196 worked fine, and I have upped the caching to 512 mb and network to Unlimited.

I think this improved the 6ch 24-96 issue, but need to listen a little more to be sure. Sound is good, but need to see if buffering shows again after some more time with it.

Thanks for your advice and making progress.

So I did more testing across several 6ch FLAC and now all good with cache at 512mb and unlimited Network speed set.

Thanks for your support!

are you using hdmi or a hat? I can’t get headless to output audio to my onkyo rz810

I am using HDMI streaming direct to the AVR
