Plexamp limited Download functionality

I often listen to music away from home in 3G or low quality WiFi environments. In this respect, it is a pitty that Plexamp doesn’t offer the same download functionality as the original Plex application:

  1. If you download, say, a collection of 100 albums you end up with a single downloaded playlist of 1.000 songs which cannot be viewed as distinct albums. If you need to see distinct albums you need to download them manually one by one. On the other hand, the original Plex app allows you to view your content as a list of artists, albums, or tacks.
  2. Unlike Plex, within Plexamp Downloads you cannot filter by genre/ mood/ style or other criteria. You need to manually select what you want to listen to within your large list of downloads.
  3. If you pick an album via the Library (instead of the Downloads), the app often fails to recognise that it has been already downloaded, and starts an unnecessary streaming process. Plex has never failed so far to reccognise downloads.

For these reasons I decided to remove Plexamp and revert to using the original Plex app which addresses these issues. But I understand there is new music-related functionality being added in Plexamp which I cannot take advantage of.
