Every time there is an update to plexamp I’m praying it fixes this issue. I constantly add new songs to custom albums and every time I do, the track names from previous songs in that album disappear.
I used to be able to ‘Empty the trash’ and ‘Refresh Metadata’ to fix these, but now my only option is to remove the files from the source folder - scan library files - so it removes them from my Plex and then re-add them to the source folder.
The problem doing this (other than it being a lot of manual work) is it adds all the music to recently added, which isn’t the case for me.
Is there any announcement on this being fixed? If not I’ll have to go back to using iTunes and adding my music to my Apple Music library - even if does down sample everything
I really really want to use Plex/PlexAmp for all this. I think it’s a fantastic app, but it’s just become too much manual work compared to iCloud music library that handles adding a new song to an album effortlessly in comparison
I’m experiencing the same issue. Something like one out of every twenty of all of the tracks in my music library do not display a track title in Plexamp, even though they do in the main Plex app.
I’ve noticed that these libraries consistently are not “matched” with an album. (I’m using the “Plex Music” scanner.) If I pick the menu item “Match…” and match the album in my library with the correct album in the database, then the issue is cleared up. However many of these albums are custom albums, my own music, or too obscure to be in the database, so I can’t consistently use this to fix things. Plus with so many albums having this issue, it would take me hours of tedious work to fix them all.
If I edit the metadata for one of these broken tracks in the Plex web app, then quite mysteriously they have no text entered for the track title! I can fix this manually by entering in the title and click the lock button next to the track field, and that fixes it for that track, but again this is not a viable solution given how many tracks are broken like this. Obviously there’s a bug because the Plex web app is displaying the correct title for these tracks.
Could this be the result of my music library being updated several times over the course of many Plex server revisions? This music library is over a decade old, and was originally added with the legacy music scanner. I feel like the only way to really fix things is to blow it away and start over, but there’s so many customizations to it that I’ve accumulated over the years, not to mention statistics about my plays, that I am loathe to do that.
Please help!
edit: Forget what I said earlier about albums not being matched. I just found one that was matched but still had the issue. If I picked “Fix Match” and reselected the album so that it downloaded new metadata, that fixed the issue for that album.
In another case where it was already matched, all I had to do was refresh metadata to fix it.
