So I made this video, in fairness BEFORE the folders were not working, maybe this will allow you to see what Im doing “Wrong”?
A few things I noticed:
- You’re changing the agent/scanner from the default. Leave them alone instead of changing them to ancient/unsupported ones (that’s why you’re being offered an upgrade right away).
- You didn’t check “Prefer local metadata” which means it’ll try to organize based on artist/album/tracks file structure, which you clearly aren’t during. If you check that setting, it should read your file tags instead (which I assume are correct?)
- The waveform only shows up in Plexamp, not the web app.
Ok, let me try to add another library using the settings you mentioned, thanks for the heads up on the waveform, I have not seen it on any device except for that one folder I added, but the “sweet fades” didnt work there either
Ok Elan
I have a basic library using all defaults, the tags seem accurate and the album art reflects what it should, does it save these locally or are they only used in Plexamp?
I see waveforms in all the songs in the test library, but still no “Sweet fades” of any kind
Are you wanting the logs now?
yes, play two tracks which should fade, and upload the plexamp logs and i’ll have a look.
do i play them all the way through, or do you want me to scrub them, also do you want them on shuffle or in any specific order?
here are the logs
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-07-29_19-23-43.zip (3.5 MB)
i need the plexamp logs, not the server logs.
just let a track transition naturally to the next track, and then capture logs (settings, advanced, debugging, share logs).
Ok I did that, you have the logs in the previous post
Happy Hunting!
Oh Krap I just saw this, my bad lol, Hang on while I figure out how to do that
Here They Are!

This was mentioned already, but are you using the “PLEX Naming Convention”?
PLEX does not read all tags (their position is that users don’t tag files properly), so for your test Library see (if you haven’t already):
Tony
Ill look at this article
I am waiting to see what Elan discovers in the logs as well!
That’s not really true. We default to not preferring user tags, but also have the “prefer local metadata” option which makes the system prefer the tags it reads.
All of your playback is to Chromecast. The Chromecast receiver software does not support gapless, or sweet fades.
Hey Elan!
Ok that might make some sense , considering that the other program I use said something about mixes not working when I “cast” to my speaker, let me try something, ill report back in a bit
Elan,
the “fades” are working if i just playback to the tablet itself, sometimes they sound good other times they don’t fade at all, NOT a malfunction of Plexamp at all more in the audio files I suspect , some of the test files have long tail silence on them, Again we know this works. I do appreciate the help Elan and others! Apologies about the misunderstanding, I suspected that was the issue after I noticed another app doing the same thing, I am hoping in the future they find a way to allow fading and mixing in smart devices, it may happen who knows!
For the home scenario, we recommend running Plexamp “headless” on a raspberry Pi or similar, it’s a powerful addition to a home audio solution.
Elan
I know Rasberry PI, its an amazing OS/Hardware. I have not used it extensively but I know people who do! As for the server/client setup, I have noticed even without the smart speaker in a perfect scenario, the audio stops after a couple of songs, and then bounces back to the home screen. I am looking for solid absolute playback with mixes and fades and full stabilization, but Plexamp is a fascinating software. If a standalone version is ever made I will be all over that as the GUI is great for cars.
Almost certainly related to Chromecast.
That’s Plexamp + Plex Media Server. That’s not always Chromecast.
