Plexamp: Play Counts & Skips (How does it count?)

Hello, all!

First, I absolutely love Plexamp! I love how light weight it is, and I keep it open in the corner all day at work! Love it!

Quick question about play counts and skips when using Plexamp: Usually, when using other apps (like iTunes of Last.FM’s Scrobbler) you have to listen to a set amount of time before it counts as “played.” How long is it for Plexamp?

And if you skip it after that amount of time, is it still considered a play?

Thanks!

IIRC you have to listen to 90% before it’s marked as a play (it’s a server-determined thing).

Doing a quick test here, I currently have a song playing that is 50% of the way through, but it’s already on my “Recently Played” smart playlist. (I have a smart playlist that shows me all track with a “date played” stamp of “in the last 21 days.”)

Testing on the next track, it seems like it’s actually 10 seconds. If I skip a track before ten seconds are up, it goes on my “Recently Skipped” playlist. Anything longer, and it goes to “played.” Any chance we could get that 90% you mentioned above? Ten seconds is pretty short for a play count.

I use play counts and skips in a randomizer smart playlist, so it’s important the skips and plays are tracked accurately for it to work. Would really appreciate it!

Also, I looked (quickly) through my server settings, and I didn’t see a setting anywhere to adjust play count length. Any recollection if that still exists and where I might look?

Thanks again for getting back to me; I’m sure you guys are swamped, and I really appreciate it.
