This seems to have been happening to a number of people recently. I have been running plex on proxmox in an LXC behind traefik for years. Had a number of small things here or there but it has been working just fine. For the last two weeks the android plex app and the plexamp apps have been unable to connect remotely (to be clear, they connect just fine when on my home network). I have a custom url set with the correct port, and I even have relay on. I can connect to my plex server through my custom URL in web browsers on my computer and my phone when remote just fine. However, the plex android app and the plexamp android app both show the server as offline. I looked in the plex logs and I don’t see any connection attempts from these apps, only from the browser.
So the browser (and app.plex.tv) are connecting just fine through https on port 443. But for some reason plex android app and plexamp are not making it through traefik. Do they not use https to talk to the server?
Is there some unpublished change that occurred recently? I actually have an old plex android app on an old phone for downloads (using the pre-April 2024 legacy android app since downloads actually work on that one) and it connects. So there is something weird with recent versions of plexamp and the plex android app. Some searching online shows taht some people have to have port 32400 open to plex even when using traefik for plexamp to work now. Is that so? If so, why? Why doesn’t plexamp use the publish custom URL?
EDIT: After searching around some more, I saw complaints about server version 1.43.1, so I downgraded back to 1.43.0 and plexamp and the android plex app connect again. So it is a bug with PMS 1.43.1.
