First off, I want to say I like what I’ve seen of Plexamp on iOS so far! Great job, Plex team! My wife likes it too, which is where my question comes in.
Are there plans to allow managed users who sign into Plexamp using the owner’s account the ability to select Podcasts as a media source? As the owner, I’m able to select Podcasts as a source, but I can’t when I switch to my wife’s account.
I searched through the Plexamp Release Notes thread but only found a few mentions of podcast related features, none addressing this question. I wasn’t able to find any existing threads discussing this either. Hope I haven’t asked something that’s already been answered elsewhere.
OttoKerner, BigWheel, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Yes, my wife currently has the Plex app installed on her iPhone. She’s signed into my account and uses the managed user account I created for her. She’s been using Plex to listen to podcasts for several months now.
I double-checked my server settings to make sure Podcasts were still enabled for managed users. They are. I know they’re still available to listen from her Plex app, and I also double-checked just now to see if Podcasts are available when I swap to her account on plex.tv (edit: they are).
It’s strange-- two days ago I installed Plexamp on my iPhone and I was able to swap media sources to Podcasts on my Plex Pass enabled account. Within the last 24-36 hours, I found that I wasn’t able to swap sources to Podcasts. Closing and reopening Plexamp didn’t bring back Podcasts, but reinstalling Plexamp on my iPhone did bring Podcasts back. However, I still don’t see Podcasts as an available source for my wife’s managed account.
Is anyone able to definitively confirm whether or not Podcasts should be accessible for managed users in Plexamp?
I’m seeing the same issue, Managed Users on my server can see and access Podcasts through the web player, standard Plex iOS App etc, but when logged in to PlexAmp only the Main user can see Podcasts under Sources, all Managed Users only see my Music library. I’ve confirmed this on the iOS app and the Windows PlexAmp release. Hopefully it’s a bug that can be fixed as PlexAmp is a dream to use, it would make a brilliant home for my Podcasts too!
Has anyone had any joy getting Podcasts to show as as source for Managed Users yet? Based on some chats with the team at @plexamp on Twitter I’ve tried disabling Podcasts as an online media source for a couple of hours and then setting back to enabled and again waiting a couple of hours but no joy, definitely seems to be a bug where Managed Users can’t see Podcasts as a Source - unless I’ve been missing something …!
This is the same across Plexamp on Windows and iOS on multiple devices, so it’s not device related, and all the same Managed Users can see and listen to Podcasts via all other Plex apps.
I’m in the same boat. On the webui I can access podcasts with my main account and managed user. Podcasts are enabled in settings. Only in plexamp I can’t select podcasts as a source with the managed user like I can as the main admin account. Seems like a bug since I’ve been through all settings and can’t find anything misconfigured.
It’s definitely a bug as I’ve tried every option including a new test server, hoping it’s resolved in the upcoming release as Plexamp would be amazing as a Podcast player, I find the main Plex app to bulky to quickly jump in to a Podcast.
I love plexamp so thank the team for all their great work. I must admit I was hopeful with the new 3.2.0 release they may have fixed this but unfortunately not.
Still an issue that needs addressed please. I have enabled podcasts for managed users, can see them on the webui for example, but on plexamp it is not available as a source for managed users, only the main account.
I spotted “TIDAL or Podcasts only sign in works.” in the Release Notes for v3.2.0 which to me sounded like this fixed the issue, but after trying 3.2.0 I still can’t access Podcasts as a Managed User.
But … I’m hopeful there is just something else going on, as Podcasts has disappeared for my main sign in under 3.2.0 also, which was there before, so it seams a different issue might be at play here.
@Volts thanks for the feedback, good to know that it’s not a dead end. I still can’t get Podcasts to show outside of the main account - no joy with managed users, I really hope it’s not a server reinstall needed to fix the issue
Wow, OK scratch that! I just installed 3.2.2 update on MacOS and I can now access Podcasts under a managed user! Seems like it has been fixed in this release, fingers crossed the iOS release has the same behaviour.
EDIT: I just tried 3.2.2 on Windows and it has also been fixed there, so this definitely appears to be a bug 3.2.2 has removed, brilliant!
