I am unable to control music playback on ATV using PlexAmp as a remote control player. This is on the local network and from both iOS and Android. My mobile Plex players remote control without a problem. Screen shots are shown below from Plex Mobile clients compared to PlexAmp.

Logs are attached. Therein have successfully remote controlled using Plex Mobile app, attempted and failed to remote control Android TV, ATV does not appear in the cast menu.
Plexamp can only remote control other Plexamp instances, not the main Plex app
Not true. It can control Plex Mobile apps quite fine and occasionally even controls Android TV.
The use the same protocol.
Can you post the Plexamp logs?
Plexamp iOS logs attached. Managed to remote control the ATV Plex App, tvOS app still does not show in cast menu. Am able to airplay though.

The only reference I see to the Apple TV is DEVICE: Removing "Apple TV" which disappeared. Is it possible that app isn’t signed in?

Not sure what to suggest, a few testers tried it out and they see their Apple TVs inside Plexamp 
It took me a minute or two to figure out how to use the Remote Control feature. I did activate it, controlling a macOS Plexamp instance with my phone. This is a nice feature. It allows me to keep my phone in cellular mode and listen to the macOS instance. This is only important to me because of the internet/data limitations here in rural America.
My only recommendation is to make the user manual/guide for these features more visible (easily located).
I have zero regrets with my decision to use Plex as my personal media server.
Okie dokie. Not a biggie. Can still use the Plex app for remote controlling, so not a total train smash. The whole remote controlling all other apps is 
, this is an awesome feature. Means I can keep my same queue playing regardless of media device like what Spotify does. Excellent feature.
Tonight I was unable to connect to my macOS instance of Plexamp from my phone via cellular data while home. This problem did not occur during my last post.
