Plexamp, sharing link option disappeared

Plexamp 4.8.4 on Android

Clicking the “Share…” option on a track only presents “Share image” or “Write to NFC tag” - the share link option appears to have disappeared?

Edit: Trying different tracks, the “Share link” option appears for some of them??

Then your media is not matched properly.

Sorry dont understand, can you explain more please?

For link sharing to be enabled for an item, it needs to be matched to our metadata using Plex Music agent.

I am doing that, these are my settings:

That doesn’t necessarily mean that Plex was able to find a match for your album/tracks. If you try to match the album in the web/desktop app, does the menu entry say “Match…” or “Fix Match…”? If it just says “Match…”, it’s not matched:

You can also use Get Info on a track that doesn’t have a share link, and then “View XML”, look for guid="...". If it doesn’t start with plex://track/, it’s not matched with the Plex Music agent.

Thanks for the useful help.

It says “Match…”, no “Fix Match…” option and the GUID is "guid=“local://50099”

A few questions if you can help:

  1. Any idea how this has happened, I have used the default Plex agents since I installed Plex

  2. If you don’t get a match when adding new media how do you know?

  3. How can I easily identify all tracks that are not matched correctly?

  4. Can I “bulk” fix match them if there are a lot?

Thanks.

  1. It could be a bunch of different things - naming that doesn’t match what Plex expects, albums/tracks that aren’t listed in MusicBrainz, or some temporary hiccup that prevent Plex from matching it when you initially scanned it into your library.
  2. If you have well tagged tracks it can be hard to tell at the track level, since everything will be loaded from those tags/local assets. At the album level, one indicator would be a lack of album description, but that could also just mean there’s no online description available. Outside of the answer to #3 below, the ‘Match’ vs ‘Fix Match’ is the quickest way I know of to check when looking at the album.
  3. There’s an advanced filter that you can use to find unmatched tracks in the library view:

  4. Not that I know of, but that’s not something I’ve ever looked into. The quickest way may be to use the same filter as above, but at the Album level, and individually try to match them. The Plex Dance would force Plex to try and rematch them all, but it will reset ‘date added’ metadata, (as well as playcounts/ratings for previously unmatched items IIRC).

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

I didn’t know MusicBrainz was the key source of the data the Plex agent uses, I’ve checked that and can see a fair bit of my music is not listed.

I’ll probably go the filter route to try and resolve some of these issues
