Server Version#: 4.159.0
Player Version#: plexamp v4.13.1
Upgraded plexamp to v4.13.1. Was pretty much unusable - every song change was slow to load - no audio for 5-10 seconds, album art didn’t update, etc.
Restarted, no change.
Uninstalled and reinstalled and it’s much better, but now I’ll get the occasional skip.
Music a mix of MP3s and FLAC.
I’m not seeing any Plexamp folder in Library\Logs.
EDIT: I am using a docking station with external speakers.
I do not see an option in debugging to enable logging
There are known issues that have been reported but whether these reports have officially been acknowledged by Elan, that is still unknown. The consensus is to roll back to the previous version before this most recent update. Don’t upgrade if you don’t need to, especially on Mac.
Thanks, found the older version linked here: https://www.reddit.com/r/plexamp/comments/1snjdmf/plexamp_v4131_on_macos_10158/
But haven’t figured out how to disable auto update.
Google AI says: Yes, you can disable auto-updates for Plexamp, particularly on desktop (Windows/macOS), by adding a command line argument or editing configuration files to prevent the updater from running. On mobile, you must disable auto-updates via the App Store or Google Play Store.
Desktop (Windows/macOS) Method
- Via Config File: Locate the
plex.ini file (often in ~/Library/Application Support/Plex on Mac or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex on Windows) and add disableUpdater=true under the [debug] section.
- Alternative: As discussed in the Plex Forum, you may need to check the
~/Library/Caches/Plex/updates directory and prevent the application from replacing the current version.
To stop auto Plexamp on Mac auto updating:
While the working Plexamp was open and hadn’t updated yet, I went into ~/Library/Application Support/Caches/Plexamp and locked the “plexamp-updater” folder. Simply just right clicked, went to Get Info and locked it. So far it hasn’t auto updated. Fingers crossed.. Plexamp needs a checkbox in the settings to stop auto updating, it was great, until something like this…
