PlexAmp starts playing when i leave my car?

looked around, didn’t see any other threads about this, apologies if i missed it.
seems kinda similar to PlexAmp 3.1.0 is a bit intrusive, but i don’t think thats it…

(not sure if relevant…)
Just started playing around with PlexAmp, been on my todo list to try it out for a while…only been using it for a few days now, but i noticed something that has been bugging me.

first time i used plexamp, i gave it a ‘test’ music library that just had some random junk in it. seems ok, lets try it for real.
i blew away this library and created a proper one with lots more music in it this time.
Starting plexamp again got a little weird. not sure how to describe it, but it seemed like it wasn’t happy that i deleted that library. anyway, set it up for the new library, everything is good now… moving on to the real issue…
So, my first ‘real’ test of plexamp was to play an album when i was in the shower. cool stuff. like it.
closed the app and haven’t really gotten back to using it much yet.
BUT
/notsureifrelevant

Here’s the issue i’m having…
drove around town, when i get out of my car, i start hearing music. from my phone. huh?
PlexAmp is running and playing the last song that i was on before. i thought ‘thats weird’, turned it off and assumed i had somehow turned it on by accident.
this same sequence has now happened to me a number of times, so i think i can assume i’m not accidentally pressing some buttons…

The sequence seems to be:

  1. play some music in plexamp
  2. stop playing (hit pause from the lock screen, swipe away the notification of playback)
  3. unlock phone, open up app menu, swipe away the plexamp app
  4. start car, bluetooth auto connects to phone
  5. wait some amount of time
  6. stop car, bluetooth auto disconnects from phone
  7. wait a few seconds
  8. plexamp starts up and resumes playing

(not sure if this is the minimal required steps or not, steps 2 and 3 may not be needed?)

if this is just me having something configured incorrectly, please help me correct my setup so this doesn’t happen anymore

Here’s what i got:
PlexAmp 3.2.0
Phone: Samsung A20 (android - “Android version = 10” whatever that means)
Car: Subaru Outback (not sure it matters…)
Server: Linux (Ubuntu) version 1.18.1.1973 (doesn’t really seem like a server thing, but there it is)

See if it still happens in v3.2.1 (heading to store). If it does, please post debug logs from the app.

upgraded plexamp to 3.2.1.
upgraded android version on phone (i think it was just security updates?)
upgraded plex server to 1.20.1.325.

this happened to me a number of times today, i think every time i turned off the car, plexamp opened up and started playing from where it last left off.
the last time this occurred was ~ 13:00 today.

from plexamp, i did Settings -> Advanced -> Debugging -> Share Logs, sent to google drive, and attached from another computer in this post. i hope this contains the information you are looking for. if not, just let me know i can test it again.

This happened to me as well today. Running Plexamp 3.2.1. Got out of my car and Plexamp started up on its own. Odd because I don’t even listen to music through Plexamp in my car because it doesn’t send song/artist/album info correctly to the head unit.

Thanks for the logs, hopefully those will be helpful. We’ll get it fixed or reach out with more questions/test builds :+1:

Do either of you have the ability to pull a logcat after it happens?

i tried reproducing according to your steps above and i couldn’t make it happen. the fact that you can, though, is excellent. if you have the ability to get a logcat off your device after it happens, i’m hoping that contains the data needed to see which codepath is causing the issue. then i’ll work to get you a test build.

Nah I’m good. The issue went away after I removed my phone as bluetooth media device on my car head unit.

@RogerPodacter you’re my only hope, obi won.

do you need a different set of logs from me than what i sent before? i have collected another set of logs, but its collected in the same way as before, so if this isn’t what you are looking for, then its more of the same.

  • played a song on plexamp in the AM
  • drove in car ~14:00 today, with phone connected to bluetooth.
  • was playing music in the car (from USB stick, not plexamp) for what its worth.
  • phone is connected as a phone and as a media device to play audio via bluetooth in the car (was not using this at the time, but i leave it turned on in case i do want to do this)
  • sat in the car for a bit after i turned the car off. nothing seemed to happen for a bit.
  • got out of the car, plexamp turned on and started playing almost immediately upon opening the car door. probably around 14:20.

  • drive back home shortly after, pretty much the same scenario.
  • was listening to music from USB in the car, phone is connected via bluetooth again.
  • when i got home and got out of the car, plexamp pops up and starts playing.
ETA: this should have been ~ 14:42.

here is another set of debug logs exported from plexamp. please let me know if you need a different type of log, and if so, how it is collected.

DM thread with Elan. He sent me a private build to try out. this has resolved my issue. I am no longer having a problem with the plexamp starting up after turning off my car.
not sure what version this will be released in as of yet. when a new version of plexamp comes out, I’ll try it and report back.

just to close this one out, I upgraded to plexamp 3.3.0, uninstalled the beta version as well (just in case). in limited testing, it looks like this one is resolved!
thanks again, Elan!
