Plexamp taking a long time to first connect to server when connecting remotely

Server Version#:1.41.6
Player Version#:4.12.2

Hello, I’ve been using Plexamp and I really like it. It works flawlessly when on my local network, but when I connect remotely, it takes close to a minute before the library shows up. After that it works fine.

I’ve tried with remote access enabled (and working) on the Plex server, and I’ve tried without remote access enabled but with a Tailscale connection between my Synology NAS and my iPhone 13 Pro. Home router is an Eero 6 Pro with uPnP enabled to allow remote access. Both configurations lead to the delay in library connection. I have attached a log, it seems like it’s showing a failure to connect for a good 30/40 seconds.

I also use the standard Plex app and it doesn’t have this same delay, I only see it on Plexamp.

Plexamp.2.log (109.0 KB)

I’d appreciate any help. Thank you.

I’m having this issue as well

How are you seeing the issue in the UI? It should load the home screen super fast from cache, is it that the first interaction with the UI is slow (I do see it being a bit confused about what network it’s on).

Is it a home screen issue you primarily see, or something else?

Actually, looking at your log, it seems like the network took a while to come online.

It starts testing at 13:12:13 and then finally succeeds at 13:12:47. A few seconds later it loads the home screen.

I’ve never used Tailscale so I’m not positive how it works, but it appears that Plexamp was having issues connecting to your server for the first 30 seconds at least.

In my case the Home Screen does load, but the Library tab just sits at a spinning wheel indefinitely - force quitting the app can usually get the library to reload, but not always - there are times where it takes multiple attempts. I am finding that it happens consistently when resuming the app after switching from Wifi to cellular data.
