Plexamp - unable to access remotely

Hello,

Remote works fine with the web player. However, if I try to use Plexamp to play my music remotely, nothing happens. The “discover” box discovers nothing at all. I’ve tried typing in the names of artists, playlists, etc. Plexamp sees my main account as the source - my other account (managed account) does not display as a choice - and that’s the account which I have most of my playlists on.

Some help would be appreciated. I did enable ipV6 in my server settings (and also in my Google WiFi settings) to try to solve a different issue (controlling Plex via Alexa, something which has never worked for me). Could it be that ipv6 breaks remote access to Plexamp?

Thanks for any suggestions which might put me on a path to access music remotely.

We don’t support managed users (yet), but you should see your music via the primary account. If it’s showing the source, then it’s accessible, so that doesn’t seem to be the issue. We’d have to see Application.log file to see what’s going on.

Elan, thanks.

Nothing is shown for the primary account (remotely - accessing locally is a non-issue). Where can I find the application log, I will send it.

Should be in ~/Library/Logs/Plexamp/

Elan, thanks.

When I went home after work, I tested it again - and discovered that it had stopped working even on my local net. So I logged out and logged back in, re-establishing the link between Plexamp and my primary account. It worked locally through that simple fix.

When I came to work this morning, I tried it again remotely and it worked. Apparently, the fix was to simply log out and then log back in. That didn’t occur to me at first, because the Plexamp menu showed that my source was my primary account, so I assumed that I was already “in”.

Is this a known issue and workaround?
