I’ve attached plexamp logs. Playing plexamp by itself on my Pixel 7a is fine. However it no longer works to cast to Sonos. I can choose a song, press play, and the song will play. If I cast that same song to a sonos device, it looks as though it connects, but then immediately stops playing, and the now playing screen minimizes away. Music never plays until I disconnect again.
Sonos through the Sonos app plays as expected. Symfonium also casts to Sonos quickly and without issue. This is a fairly new problem I’ve had with Plexamp as it has traditionally worked.
I have this exact same issue, did you manage to resolve?
No, not yet and I’m desperate for a solve! Are you having the issue on Android specifically? It’s worth adding I have an old iphone 7 and the exact same thing happens.
I’ve also been having this issue.
I’m on iOS. But also unable to cast to Sonos from Plexamp on windows. Plex playback works fine directly through Sonos app so no issues there (apart from Sonos app being terrible). AirPlay to Sonos from Plexamp works perfectly also. Just casting, which is the main reason for Plex pass isn’t working. As you say song appears that it’s going to play, fails and the player disappears.
Did you find a solution to this yet?
I’m having the same problem. Plex is fine, until I try to cast to Sonos. Frustrating.
Our network is on Cisco Enterprise switches, so it finally occurred to me that there may be a setting on the switches that is preventing the multicast. I was going to play with that today.
Are you guys on a home network or similar to me?
I found some suspect settings on my switches related to multicast, but they did not have an any effect on this issue.
My issue seems to be the same as the rest of you… Plex operates fine until I try to Cast to Sonos then it chokes. Some of the metadata reaches the sonos app, but the music just stops.
I’ve tried on Plexamp on my phone as well as the Headless Plexamp running on the Pi.
The Plex app inside the Sonos app does work fine, but I’d prefer to cast from Plexamp for Loudness Leveling.
Not yet. What’s wild is the app just updated to 4.12.0 and worked for exactly one song. Then the behavior came back. Extremely frustrating.
It’s good you can get to your library via the Sonos app. Even that doesn’t work dependably for me right now.
Sure seems like an app glitch to me. I will try updating from 4.11 to 4.12 and see if it does anything for me.
Update did nothing for, same issue
Home network. Shouldn’t be an issue with that though. Plex plays fine through Sonos app.
If anything v4.12 made the issue slightly worse. I hope Plex takes a look at this.
Plexamp casting was working perfectly until the most recent plex server update. After that Plexamp wont connect, I can see the title on the casting options show up under my sonos, but the song wont play, and if it does after about a 40second wait it stops by itself after a few seconds. If i try to pause or skip the song, the controls are non-responsive. Symfonium casts fine, spotify casts fine, im on an android. Ive forced on upnp on my router, tried appling a static IP to the sonos, port-forwarding but nothing seems to work. This is definitely a plex issue, currently…im sure sonos eco-system doesnt help.
Plex playlists will play fine on my Sonos devices from my PMS if connected to Plex within the Sonos app. I believe I’m on the latest PMS version I just updated the other night.
The cast will NOT work from Plexamp to Sonos (Playlist on my PMS). I’ve tried on multiple versions including my Headless on Rasp Pi.
Plexamp is vastly preferred because of Loudness Leveling, so i’d love if Plex would take a look at this.
Did you try downgrading the server to previous version?
It did not work before or after I upgraded. I can try going back further, I have not done that before. Did you try that successfully?
I’m not sure if my issue was the same or not (it sounds similar, but a bit different), but I found a fix for my issue. Sonos wasn’t showing in Plexamp to cast to it even though I could play music from Plex through the Sonos app. I found that I needed to link my Sonos account in the desktop version of Plex. Once I did that Sonos immediately appeared in Plexamp and I was able to cast to it. I’ve had no issues since.
