Is there a PlexConnect Cache?

 

Background:

Ok, so I upscaled(I know it is frowned upon) some of my old TV show videos to 1080p, it originally was some resolution below DVD 480p (Mind Your Language TV Series, super old – During the Golden Girls TV Series era, I believe, there was no DVD and the resolution standards were set  by Britain)

 

Problem:

I realized that this was a big boo-boo as I then had Black lines on both the sides of the TV episodes while watching it on my TV via PlexConnext/Apple TV.

 

I made some sort of a retarded attempt to downscale the video. No joy as the bars still showed up.

 

Solution:

I re-downloaded the entire series and I was surprised to see the black bars were still showing. I remember initially that there were no black bars on the sides of the original video while watching it on my TV via PlexConnect/Apple TV.

 

Query:

My query really is, does PlexConnect have some sort of Cache? If yes, pl. help me delete it!

I did the usual Force Refresh, Analyze and see that the TV Series now have “SD” Standard Definition below it in PMS.

Cloning a new git and rebooting your atv should clear out everything afaik.

Wait, what?

If the original content aired in 4:3 (which it surely did, in the '80s), then that's what you're going to get: black bars on the sides, on a widescreen TV — it's not a cache problem. If you want to make a hideous mess of the frame, but really want to fill the whole screen, you can always use your TV's aspect ratio control to stretch or zoom it.

Although some dvd rips have an anamorphic aspect ratio of 1.731 equivalent to 16:9, for example.

But I get your point it's not about the 80's or 90's mainly about the aspect ratio.

I confirm, it was not the PlexConnect or PMS cache.
