No subtitles

I've an apple tv 3 with 5.2.1 and I can't get my subtitles to work

My DNS server is set to 10.0.1.14

The computers IP,  which runs the plexconnnect python script, is 10.0.14

The computer runs on Mac OS X 10.8.3 with python 2.7.2

The Plex media server runs on a Synology nas with the IP 10.0.1.3 and DSM 4.1-2668

In settings.py the ip is 10.0.1.3

I downloaded PlexConnect on 31 may 2013

When I select the subtitles in the preplay screen they don't appear

does anyone know how?

Sincerly

Rens

What version media server are you running?

Does you NAS have enough power to transcode?

Please provide info on a sample media file, including sub nfo.

I'm currently not at home but yesterday I tested subtitles by downloading the newest PMS to my MacBook and changed the setup.py but that also didn't work

Unfortunately "newest" is a meaningless term, especially when there are public and non-public releases of the PMS (we need a version number).

Also without details on the media/subs it may be hard to determine any issue.

PMS 0.9.7.22

try to activate Force Transcode.

Looks like it worked for me.

It's fixed now. It was an error that caused for a transcoding issue. By downloading PlexConnect again today , 6 june 2013.

Thanks for the help

Rens

The subtitles doesn't work if the container is MP4. In MKV is works just fine.

Is there a bug with PMS or is related to PlexConnect/ATV?

The problem is the ATV probably. It doesn’t show image based subs unless its in a MKV file. Otherwise textual subs are your best bet.

The subtitles are all in SRT format. I cannot figure out why it only works on MKV containers and not at all on MP4...

MP4 is direct played, no transcoding by PMS. Subtitles would need to be displayed natively as well...

Try to "force transcoding", when displaying subtitles on MP4...

Thank you very much, it works! :D

im also on PMS 0.9.7.22 tried force transcoding, still no subtitles are shown. Subtitle works on the ipad though. Is there any other settings that could be wrong giving problem with subtiels ?

Where do i find the "force transcoding" in plex?

It is in the settings section of the ATV trailers Plexconnect interface.

Finally.. Been looking for this in plex webinterface all evening.. thx

I'm running PMS 0.9.8.2 and connect updated from github today. I'm trying to watch an mkv with subtitles; the subtitles display fine in Plex/Web, but do not appear on the AppleTV via connect. I tried turning on 'force transcode' but it had no effect.

Also, this file shows with the wrong aspect ratio (I think); is there a way to force change to different aspect ratios with connect?

Can confirm Force Transcoding via PlexConnect settings on AppleTV fixes SRT subtitles issue with MP4 file containers.

It is in the settings section of the ATV trailers Plexconnect interface.

I still can't find it :(

Can we have a screenshot?

BTW: some movies are showing subtitles at ATV, others not. All of then are showing at plex web interface. All of then are at the same formato with srt subs. ATV will recognize there's a srt file, but won't display it.

I was checking the settings of my ATV, didn't really change anything but, then, some movies started displaying subs.

WTF? After I add a movie to my library should I do something so it show the subs at ATV?

Thanks and sorry if this is a thread hijacking. I thought I was ontopic.
