I have PMS running on my MBP (MacBook pro) and the package is running in my Synology NAS.
I never installed plexconnect on the NAS, just the MBP.
What’s strange is that my ATV is pointed to the static IP of my MBP yet I can see both PMSs running when going into the trailers app. Is this normal?
All content plays fine on my MBP but only some play on the NAS.
Is there a synology plexconnect package for the new DSM 5? I see a tutorial out there to install one for DSM 4.3 but haven’t found if DSM 5.0 supports plexconnect pkg.
thanks
It’s normal for PlexConnect to pickup all your local PMS. As for not all the content displaying from the nas PMS you would need to provide more info on that issue. Please use the read before posting sticky template to provide a detailed issue report:
https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/How-to-report-an-issue
- It's necessary to install PlexConnect in one, and only one computer, either the NAS or the MBP
- If GDM is active PlexConnect will find both PMS's. provided that in Settings.cfg enable_plexgdm = True, GDM is active in each PMS, and the router has multicast enabled
- If your Syno model supports DSM5, and you want to install PMS in the Syno, it's strongly suggested that you install DSM 5. Otherwise you cannot upgrade PMS beyond 0.9.10.3 (the last PMS version that supports DSM4)
- If you opt to install PlexConnect in the Syno, it's possible to use DSM4 or DSM5
- Most Synos cannot transcode, or can transcode for lower bitrates only, so in most cases it's preferrable to not install PMS in the Syno when you have other options (such as the MBP)
