Hang when trying to play film on last 3 ppa releases (regression to version 1.3.1 problem):-
plexhometheater_1.3.3.427-201412151505-ubuntu68~ubuntu14.04.1_amd64.deb
plexhometheater_1.3.3.428-201412161152-ubuntu69~ubuntu14.04.1_amd64.deb
plexhometheater_1.3.4.432-201412180738-ubuntu76~ubuntu14.04.1_amd64.deb
Kubuntu 14.04.1 64 bit
Nvidia drivers on GTX750ti beta drivers of 346.22
& generic intel os drivers for HD4600
on 2 otherwise near identical i5 machines.
Prior to the log generation I moved my pht settings aside with
mv .plexht/ .plexht-old
Started pht and activated the debug log and exited.
Then started pht again and attempted to play a film.
Then switched to tty console and kill -SIGHUP
If anyone else is unsure of how to generate a debug log see:-
https://support.plex...ex-Home-Theater
Log doesn't seem that useful though as it just ends with the following line and little else clue wise:-
DEBUG: Loading: /opt/plexhometheater/bin/system/players/dvdplayer/avformat-53-x86_64-linux.so
Attaching head and tail of log when hang occurs:-
N.B. I was able to mostly cut - paste this report from my Updating PHT to 1.3.1 broke PHT entirely - Plex Home Theater for Linux - Plex Forums
post as the symptoms and ending line in log are the same.
The difference is that I could -SIGHUP the plexhometheater and didn't need -9 like before.
last know working version from ppa = plexhometheater_1.3.2.417-201412021047-ubuntu65~ubuntu14.04.1_amd64.deb
Let me know if there is anything else I can provide to help with this.
We need really to have some kind of "does it play any movies" check on the ppa packages prior to publishing.
These 4 released builds (1.3.1, 1.3.3 x 2, 1.3.4 were all very obviously broken in a perfectly reproducible form in a core function area; playing any film. Note that this seems only have been the case with the linux clients. Easy for me to say of course.
