.plexignore not working

Server Version#: 1.15.2.793-782228f99
Player Version#: 3.91.0 (Web Client)

I have a screenshot library structured like this:
D:/Screenshots/[Game Name]/
These folders contain image files (screenshots of games) and an extra file named cover (.jpg, .png) that is the logo of the game.
I use these cover images to set icons in PLEX onto my game folders.

I also have a .plexignore file in “D:/Screenshots/” that looks like this:
# Ignore all files with "cover" in the name
*cover*

But recently this ignore file doesn’t seem to work, because PLEX picked up my cover images and added them to each games folder.

Not sure if the LOG file would help in this case.

Hello,

I have the same problem since today (march 26).
Files and folders that have been successfully ignored by Plex for years no longer are.
It’s a pain because my pictures are displayed twice or more (.cr2, jpeg…).
I hope a fix will be released soon.

Yes plexignore is broken. My pictures library is crippled since this broke. They’re aware of the issue and hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for a fix. It’s discussed in this thread a little bit:

Hello,

Any news on this issue?
It’s really frustrating to have no answer from Plex. It’s been a month already.

I haven’t gotten any response on this. There where at least two updates since I created this post and none of them fixed it.

Hi there Wavorly,

Thanks for your message.
It’s a shame really, that such a basic and enduring functionality isn’t being restored.

Let’s hope that they remember us at some point before the next update.
Best regards

According to this post there is nothing we can do except continue to wait:

We will persevere then

I have been advised by team member MovieFan.Plex I should just bump old threads related to this instead of creating a feature request. (So this is that bump).

I was made aware of this thread via another post/thread. This trail seems specifically relevant to my frustrations and I will bump here instead.

I just con’t understand why the customer service for this app is so terrible. I’m a plex lifetime pass member as I like to support the project, but lately I’ve been growing frustrated. This is ridiculous that it’s been three months now and still no fix.

Plex engineers: please fix .plexignore

Would love to see this fixed for my photo library. Please?!

I am evaluating plex and spent half Sunday trying to ignore my raw-files until I realized that this feature is broken since March. Fixing this bug wood be an argument for using plex.

Hi,

the error still exists, for me too #plexignore.

Did you evaluate other software and found good alternatives?

I have lost patience waiting nearly half a year for developers fixing something that they broke, and we have not even been given a date when or if this ever will be.
In software companies broken features typically get some priority, but here they simply seem not to care.

Hi - plus one for wanting this fixed… just spent a couple of hours wondering why some thing kept stacking.

Oddly it still ignores a folder from some months ago so I would say its not setting the flag in the DB rather than the feature its self been broken.

+1 for wanting this fixed. It used to work. Even better would be a built into gui tool for ignoring certain strings / file types.

or a hide this from library feature, where you could just click on media.
