I don’t have an error log but I just updated and got a disk i/o error when trying to rebuild the db. this is on the nvidia shield with kodi 18. I got the same disk i/o error with the last 2.5.1 beta. reverted to 2.4.11 and its working fine.

Please share your logs on Github - the diskerror is difficult to reproduce, otherwise.

There is a 2.5.3 version in the beta repository. Is that the one to try or 2.5.2?

I’m so excited :joy:

Status so far (using Nvidia Shield with 10k movies and 2k TV shows) with Kodi 18 RC2;

  1. Initial sync was really fast now! Great job!
  2. No initial (slow) sync on every startup! Great!
  3. When trying to play something, error message pops up: Error in sync. But playback starts anyway after a couple of seconds. But loading circle bugs out and stays up sometimes. Will look up how I can provide you with debug log. Now I got error message “database is locked” as well and also “-1” message. But playback is OK
  4. Overall it seems great. Everything is working good and I don’t know if my above points are due to Kodi 18 RC2 or PKC. Will try with Kodi 17.6 now.

Thank you so much for all your work with this!

Instructions for enabling debug logging:

You can find the kodi.log file in the following directory on the shield:

  • /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp/kodi.log

@croneter, I did the downgrade to 4.1.1 as suggested and eventually got things running again smoothly, Mostly my error i believe with artwork, I did have one question. Have you been experiencing issues with Fanart TV ?. I have all my artwork stored in folders and set to prefer local artwork in plex and everything was fine until this update causing me to downgrade. My previous install grabbed the clearart for tv shows and other artwork automatically if not already there but after the downgrade i had to recreate clearart in Kodi and browse to the file…
Sorry if my explanation is confusing…been a long day :stuck_out_tongue:

any chance PKC could ever integrated into android TV’s “Play Next” home menu ?

fanart.tv had issues during the weekend with too much traffic in their servers and had to enforce connection throttling. I had issues with the Artwork Beef addon in Kodi being very slow so I searched and eventually found that out in the Kodi forums.

Cheers @charlie2alpha. Will look at Artwork Beef over the next few days. Seems like it will replace Artwork Down loader. 99% of my artwork is local. As I inferred, but not mentioned correctly. When everything started failing and taking forever i even lost the ability under choose art to have clearart. It only showed Banner and Poster. Will let it rest for a few days and go from there.

That’s how I discovered Artwork Beef, as a replacement for Artwork Downloader which is pretty much a dead project for some time now. Artwork Beef is still maintened, I just starred its GitHub repository just a few minutes ago so I can keep track of it.

@charlie2alpha. Have done the same, as a matter of interest did you disable artwork downloader prior to running artwork beef ?

I don’t remember what I did back then, but I have Artwork downloader completely removed now as it is broken anyway.

Hi @croneter.

Kudos on such a great add-on, I was an Emby user but there were just so many server issues that i tried Plex and have never looked back.

I’ve just started a new build on a spare PC I have. Thought i’d get involved in the Beta testing to help you along. The PC is running windows 10, and i thought i’d install the RC2 release of Kodi Leia 18, as i thought that would help you to prepare and future proof the upcoming releases. I hope there will not be any massive DB or Skin changes in the system environment up to the official release.

Anyways, no other add-ons or skins have been installed, with the exception of plexkodiconnect beta 2.5.3.

The initial sync was fast, but did fall short by a couple of thousand movies, and a a couple of hundred tv shows, so that may have speeded things along. Got some issues with initial sycs, database locks and crash on playing content. Here’s a link to a folder you can download the debug logs and and have a look through. I’ve named the files with a small description of error so you can look through and compare. Happy hunting :slightly_smiling_face:

Just try uninstall the addon it will tell you if any skins/addons depend on it. You’ll have to remove them before it will let you remove artwork downloader

@croneter The latest 2.5.5 seemed to fix the initial library sync but now I get a pop-up error every so often saying sync failed. I updated the last issue I opened on github with the debug log.

Small deviation from the current issues, my downgrade is still causing me issues, reverted all back to 4.1.11 as well as the dependencies, now getting high CPU usage and unable to EXIT Kodi, probl;ems I use to have a long time ago. I will resolve them soon. Does anyone know how to run multiple versions of Kodi on a NAS ?, google is just showing me the PC -p portable which I already know and several Android hacks using forks. It would be nice to try a completely fresh install of kodi and plexkodiconnect to test, maybe even try out Leia…
