his picture is missing from all other films he is in too.
this is a completly clean install, havn’t even installed any skins.
just using estuary
clint eastwood also missing
Paul Rudd (I noticed he was missing last time too)
Billy Crystal
Harold Ramis
Fisher Stevens
Kenneth Branagh
Burnie Burns
Ricci Harnettt
All of those are missing images on kodi with PKC but are there for all other plex clients. I went through my whole movie library.
All of this does not help me, unfortunately. Please share your Kodi video database “MyVideosxxx.db” and “Texturesxxx…db” from the Kodi user data folder. Also your Kodi debug log. You would need to share immediately after noticing a missing actor image - one is probably enough though.
Chances are that this is a bug caused by the third party actor images provider simply not returning a valid image
Reboot Kodi. Are all of these images still missing?
PKC force-cached all cast images first. But this will take up >10GB of disk space very very quickly! Thus PKC leaves the handling of cast artwork entirely up to Kodi. After a couple of days using Kodi, the most prominent actors will have been cached so you won’t notice much of a lag anymore.
I done a reboot and nothing changed.
I done a manual library sync and nothing changed.
I done a “cache all images to Kodi texture cache now” and selected no when it asked if I want to “reset all existing cache data first”
I then checked system info, the CPU was idle and nothing changed with the images.
I then done the same again but this time selected yes for “reset all existing cache data first”
Checked system info and the CPU was working hard so I left it a couple hours and come back when it was idle again.
I went back to my library and all of the cast images are now taking a moment to load up again so I guess it deleted them all.
But the same list of actors I sent last night still do not show an image.
After the last cache
/flash has only used 160.4mb
/storage has only used 356.1mb
This seems very small considering it is for over 600 movies and 40 TV shows.
Something not right ?
My SD card is 64gb.
Could you maybe add an option to cache all cast images for people who have plenty of storage like myself ?
Thank you.
Do a Kodi database reset under Advanced in the PKC settings. What happens then?
You did not share what I asked you to - can’t help until you do…
No. PKC provides Kodi with the cast art URLs. The rest is entirely Kodi’s domain - ask in the Kodi forums how others are dealing with this please.
I first done “Repair the Kodi database (force update all content)”
Same list of actors images did not show.
I then run “Reset the Kodi database” and rebooted.
Still the same, the same 9 actors i mentioned earlier still do not have images.
I have turned all Kodi logs off to try and keep the system as resource free as I can so i can’t send you those.
I’m sure I will figure it out eventually, I’ve got a few ideas of things to try.
If the PKC option “cache all artwork for a smooth experience” is turned off then when kodi opens the movie info page it loads the poster, fanart and cast images on the fly and adds them to the kodi texture cache so it is faster next time right ?
With the PKC option “cache all artwork for a smooth experience” turned on and caching is complete kodi does not need to load poster and fanart images to the kodi texture cache because they are already in there. But cast images are not.
If this was a normal kodi install without PKC then it would also not need to load cast images on the fly because when kodi (the scrapers) scrapes the library it adds everything to the kodi texture cache straight away including cast.
Surely if you can make PKC add posters and fanart to the kodi texture cache all at once you can also make an option in PKC to add cast images to the kodi texture cache all at once too, along with a warning that this may take up >10gb of space.
TBH i don’t really care if you do or not, I just thought that it would make your software better and thought you might appreciate the feedback.
Thanks again.

@croneter
Just to let you know I done a fresh install again on my s912 last night with the latest CoreELEC 9.0.3 and PKC 2.8.7 and the same 9 actor images will not load.
I tried refreshing the metadata on my PMS for one of the films Clint Eastwood is in and the image for Gene Hackman changed which was handy.
I checked on PKC and the only way I could get the Gene Hackman image to change was by using the PKC option “Reset the Kodi database”
Unfortunately even though the Hackman image got updated, Clint and the same other 8 actors still have no image at all.
Ryan Reynolds
Clint Eastwood
Paul Rudd
Billy Crystal
Harold Ramis
Fisher Stevens
Kenneth Branagh
Burnie Burns
Ricci Harnettt
Just thought I would let you know.
Thanks
Thanks.
I still need more info as explained above, because I cannot replicate and thus cannot fix this bug.
Cast artwork is fixed. Took me a while to catch that bugger…
Changelog
version 2.8.8 (beta only):
WARNING: You might have to manually select your PKC widgets again
- Ensure correct Kodi Container.Type is set for PKC widgets
- Fix missing cast artwork if an actor also acted as director or writer for another movie. You will have to manually reset the Kodi DB.
Excellent work @croneter The missing 9 actors images are no longer missing.
Very sorry I wasn’t much help
There seems to be a new bug introduced with the latest update though, the TV Shows “on deck” widget is missing.
I tried going in and redoing it but it is missing from the list.
The library needs to be synced to Kodi for all widgets to show. Will be fixed with the next version…
