I installed the plugin and i can see Plex list in my Kodi, Movies, TV Shows, whats played and whats not etc… but i have a problem with direct paths.
Let me list my setup so you have an idea what my issue is;
Plex server: Windows 10 Movies1: data is on a Synology NAS, drive is Mapped to the Win10 to drive M:\ where Plex has access to the movies. Movies2: data is on a Synology NAS, drive is Mapped to the Win10 to drive L:\ where Plex has access to the movies. TV Shows1: same as above with drive letter T:\ TV Shows2: same as above with drive letter S:\
When I scan i get the error message Movie Lord of the Rings in M:\Lord of the Rings\Lord of the Rings.mkv is not found
I gave Kodi access to the Synology and i can brows the data on the Synology just fine.
I tried to give change the UNC paths to my Synology but that didnt work either.
I cannot share the M:\ drive on my Win10 thats running PMS for example because it is a mapped drive.
What is the best way to get direct paths to work in this situation?
Hi there, i have a strange behaviour regarding transcoding. I hope i can explain this in a way
I have PMS running on an Intel Nuc and when i’m at home using Kodi and PKC everything is running perfect - no matter what settings i use (normally i use direct stream/direct play but for tests i also used force transcode.
On a remote location i have a S905X Kodi device and a Windows 10 Machine. The remote transcoding settings in PMC are set to maximum 8mbit bandwith which is more than enough for 1080p. the download bandwith at both location is 100mbit and the upload 40 mbit.
So when i use PKC it starts with 1080p hardware transcoded and then each couple of seconds it lowers the quality until it stays at SD quality (not so pretty) - but both bandwith and processor power is more than enough. if i use Plex as an app / or the webapp on the same Windows 10 machine everything is running perfect and stays at 1080p, no buffering everything great. so there must be something wrong with the addon. i made a little video showing the server view of what happens … Dropbox - plex problem-HD 720p.mov - Simplify your life
settings on the client side are to transcode when it’s more than < 8mit but if i set it to force transcode to 8mbit it’s the same thing. the china-s905x-coreelec-kodi device has the same problem.
really hope we can find a solution, if you need any more information let me know. thanks.
Fix Kodi playback jumping to the beginning of a video that just started
Fix transcoding quality degenerating quickly while playing with a new setting to deactivate auto quality for transcoding (applicable e.g. for Chromecast)
Try the new PKC version 2.10.2. Deactivate Auto-adjust transcoding quality (deactivate for Chromecast) in the PKC settings under Playback. Does that help?
I keep getting the Plex database locked error and watched status stops syncing. I have a log for when it just happened, unfortunately it’s not a debug log. Would it still be worthwhile to see?
I was running LibreELEC on Kodi 17, but my Amlogic box isn’t directly supported so it’s a bit of a pain. I had the same database locked issues there too, but with much older versions of PKC. If I can find a LibreELEC image for my Minix Neo U9-H I’ll give it a shot, but it’s not likely to be soon.
Using the plex backend with Kodi’s OSD/TVguide is king!
how do I sort movies by anything other than alphabetical order? I need to sort them so new movies are on top using the “All Movies” option. I have everything else figured out. I searched around online and cannot find any info.
I would be willing to pay for PKC, but this 1 thing (although small) is a deal-breaker for me.
You can sort movies however you want. How you do it will depend on the skin you’re using and it has nothing to do with PKC. On the default skin you press the left arrow and then you can choose to sort by title, year, duration, rating, etc.
I am using Kodi v18.4 “Leia” w/ Aeon Nox: SiLVO skin… I can confirm that the movies can be sorted in any way I want without PKC. When I have PKC, there is no option to sort the movies in any way.
That’s so weird. I can sort my movies just fine by whatever criteria I choose while using PKC. It shouldn’t make any difference. PKC just provides the database for videos to Kodi, but presentation is up to Kodi.
