PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I am having an issue with 1.0.14. My music library is disappearing after its scanned in properly during a phase where kodi says its reading media information from files. Debug logs sent in private message.

Same issue here. Please let us know what the developer has to say once he takes a look at the log.

Thanks

I can’t find @croneter exact post but I believe he/she is aware if this or something similar.

Just curious what @hyness setup consists of: Mine consists of ReadyNAS 516 running the latest PMS and I have 2 NSATV running SPMC 16.1.2. Will try on a Windows box and see if the Music section exhibits the same behavior. Movies and TV Shows are fine, just Music section is having issues.

Thanks

This was the quote from @croneter That I was thinking about:

OK, this one is for the more adventurous. For movies and TV series, you can now use direct paths. HOWEVER, Plex needs to be set up accordingly and your Plex libraries need to point to e.g. "\myNAS\movies".
For music it actually works, too, but Kodi chooses to delete all songs instantly .
You have been warned
Changelog
version 1.0.12

  • Possibility to use direct paths (you need to reset!)
  • Replicate Plex views in video nodes

Thanks, and yes that is what is happening unfortunately. Did @croneter mention that this would be addressed in a future release?

What’s the status on PKC and subtitles, with direct paths?

Should the subtitle downloader work, and what about external srt files?

Thanks

Edit: To answer my own question, just did some tests and both subtitle downloading and external subtitles seem to work. Nice

I’m using the standard setup, not direct paths, with latest PKC. Will I be able to use external srt subtitles in the future? Not sure if this question has been answered.

Using standard PKC (not direct paths) does this mean it will automatically
work off the local network? Or would we still need a vpn?

Just installed this and Synced my TV + Movie libraries, but for some reason playing anything using the ‘Addon’ option doesn’t show anything as ‘now playing’ in Plex. Anyone else having this issue? Or is it just due to the way the plugin works?

Known issue, I’m on it…

No VPN necessary, you should be able to see and connect to your PMS on your local LAN.

@croneter Did you have time to take a look at “On Deck” when using the fTV skin?
fTV: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=253058&highlight=resource

It’s still missing the show name and episode number etc.

Also, is the UpNext addon working for you (the addon that automatically plays the next episode of a show)?

Thanks again

Is there any way to access the local trailers and extras on my Plex Server via PKC in Kodi? I got a bunch of deleted scenes, making of and other stuff.

Fixing of bugs takes longer than one anticipates :-/. Thanks if you can drop us a line here to share your experiences ;-).

##Changelog##
version 1.0.15

  • Enable external Plex subtitles if available
  • TV On Deck: option to include show name
  • Playback updates now if an item is resumed
  • Fix PMS not being informed of playback stop
  • Fix playback updates for remote PMS
  • Deactivate info “Gathering information from files” for Music
  • Updated readme

Known issues/bugs

  • Constant PKC background sync polling can put strain on certain PMS
  • Plex Music: direct paths don’t work yet
  • Plex Music: Kodi still tries to gather information for every single song, due to very unfortunate coincidences in the way Kodi and Plex are working (Plex puts each song in a “dedicated folder”, e.g. ‘http://192.168.1.1:32400/library/parts/749450/’. Kodi unsuccessfully tries to scan these folders). Please share your experiences with your Plex Music setup. Maybe it ain’t that bad
  • Some widgets appear broken, e.g. Movies On Deck. I have no idea why
  • Often, a context menu is unavailable

PKC syncs the Plexpass trailers to Kodi. You need a skin featuring a “trailer shortcut” to access the trailer.

Other extras need way more work, unfortunately

Just curious… i was doing a fresh setup of Kodi and couldn’t get plexbmc to work (shame since it was perfect…) So i setup Connect… i have like 8 shared servers that i connect to but can only seem to see the single server i picked during setup… is there a way to add alll of the servers?

Again thank you for this great addon! One question from a Music perspective, can you still specify native paths and leave the Music paths blank/null or if you specify native paths you have to define for all? Just curious before I go down this road again given my Music library is very large, ~3TB

Given the issues around the Music section my thinking if you leave the paths for Music blank the addon will scan the section via the addon default?

Thanks!

Thanks cron… no biggy

I just didnt specify a path for music and PKC ignored my music library completely.
