I was playing around with a few different skins yesterday and noticed that I cant get my home screen widgets to display posters for TV shows. All I get is a distorted thumbnail of the video. I remember this happening way back when with an earlier build of PKC. Anyone else having this issue? I tried both Aeon Nox, Aeon Nox Silvo and FTV.
This is with PKC 1.2.3 and Kodi Jarvis 16.1
Try Video → PlexKodiConnect → Reset Video Nodes and Playlists. That might help.
Yeah tried that with no luck. Strangely my main setup in my living room using Titan skin is fine updated to 1.2.3. Not sure if I removed the widget then re-added it if the issue would show up but I don’t want to risk it. These issues are from a test machine I use so I don’t completely mess up the family box.
Update: tried switching to Titan skin on this test setup and posters show normally. @croneter I know you use Titan as as a skin, has something changed recently that would make poster widget view only work on Titan and break for all other skins? I know Titans poster view is somewhat different than others (“small posters”).
Nope, no change I could think of. Have you tried the usual routine by completely resetting PKC?
That didnt help. This is one of the first times ive had the Fanart.tv feature enabled. Could that have anything to do with it?
It’s a skin problem if everything worked flawlessly when you switched skins
This is so odd. I downgraded all the way back to PKC 1.1.11 and no change. Loaded older versions of skins, no change, downgraded Jarvis to released 16.0 (was running 16.1) no change. I cant believe that there is no skin other than Titan that will show TV posters for the On Deck widget on the home screen? Im almost positive I had at one point a version Aeon Nox Silvo running with PKC that worked properly before switching to Titan as I always use posters for my widget view. Im stumped!

With artic zephir i have tv posters with on deck widget, maybe you can try that skin.

Wow, you seem to be having a lot of issues. I can assure you there are more skins than Titan that work correctly with the add-on. What I fail to understand is why add the on deck widget to the home screen. As this add-on syncs to the kodi database all of that sort of info can be used with the built in kodi facilities so adding an extra failure point (ie on deck widget) makes no sense and adds no additional functionality,

Since a few days plexpy is showing that my watched status for an episode or movie is 0% but plexkodiconnect has no problem with it because it is just showing up the next episode after i watched the previously completely. I only got this problem when i watch with kodi. Using latest kodi build and using titan skin

+1
Not a lot of issues at all. My main computer in my living room works pretty much 100% except for the occasional issue with a show not being marked as watched once its over etc.
I just like to tinker with things on my test machine and post here when I notice issues just in case its something @croneter deems to be a real issue.
That being said, I was under the impression that we should be using the video nodes that PKC creates for full functionality? @croneter, I take your “+1” to indicate that its perfectly fine to use the Kodi nodes and still maintain full functionality?
My setup/issue for example. I like to have an running list on my home screen of the next episode to be played in a series. I want this list updated automatically when I finish watching an episode. IE: I just finished watching Friends S03 E12. What I want is when I get back to my home screen, Friends S03 E13 is presented to me ready to click and watch. Not an unusual workflow I don’t think? I thought that using the “On Deck” node wast the most fool proof thing to do in my situation since its directly linked to Plex’s On Deck. @im85288, you are saying this is adding another level for possible failure?? I was thinking the exact opposite. I figured using Kodi node was not the best practice?
Anyway, for some reason I cant get any other skin other than Titan to show posters on the home screen using widgets. All I get is a distorted thumbnail in the shape of a poster. BUT If I use the Kodi node called “Next Episode” I get posters just fine. Are you saying that it is ok to use this node? PKC will still update PMS correctly as far as watched position status etc.?
Yes exactly, the add-on “simulates” having a local kodi library so best to use it like that. There is no need to use the on deck node as that is not what keeps things in sync. Anyway I don’t want to go into too much detail but suffice to say using the standard “next episode” is what you should be doing here. Kodi knows you have watched an episode and then knows what the next one to watch will be…PKC just keeps that all in sync with your PMS server. Also using the standard kodi way let’s you benefit from using my next up add-on for kodi for ultimate binge watching

this is a completely new Kodi build and it’s the first time I have tried setting up direct paths, so not sure if it’s related… message also says to provide logs, so just wondering if this a known issue b4 doing so?
thanks for all your hard work
This ever get resolved? I wanted to play with Kryton but get the same error message. will upload a log if it hasn’t been fixed yet.

Thanks for the input! I will definitely give it a try and see if it smooths things out a bit.

@hstamas I just skipped a few nightly releases back and worked/synced again… like @croneter said they must have changed something. sorry croneter, I never got around to uploading the logs, I was to eager to get back up and running again.

good explanation @im85288, sometimes the simplest are the best.

The problem is Kodi does not have a next episode entry point to use as a widget. Can it be created? I don’t like recently added on kodi either because it shows watched videos. I have the plex recently added as a widget. It seems to require a little loading unlike emby.

Again we can go into too much detail here, what I was stating is people should use the defaults. Most skins actually use this script for gathering the next episode info to play: Library Data Provider. This can be found in the official Kodi skin(s) and as far as I know the majority of other skins out there. Recently added is of course different to what is equivalent to the on deck from Plex

Does 1.2.4 fetch posters as well as fan art? Asking because most sets do have artwork now, but none have posters. Thanks guys.
It should be gathering posters…it certainly was when I posted my screenshots earlier on and submitted my pull request to @croneter. I have not tested 1.2.4 yet though but would expect it to be working the same. I’ll check with 1.2.4 this weekend but if others can either confirm/reject that posters are not being shown for sets please post here.
