I tried to install this on Libreelec 7.90.002 which is based on the kodi v17 alphas and it says it isn’t supported. Is there anyone else running v17 on a chromebox/NUC under libreelec?
I actually got it working in the 6/25 Milhouse build without any popups, which is weird since it came out like 10 days after the libreelec version. Maybe the libreelec was too old for the latest plexkodiconnect.
Anyhow, one other weirdness I saw was, I can sync and everything looks good but when I use the Aeon Nox5 Silvio Mod and after some period of time all my TV shows (from the plex TV show video node) disappear. I can kinda trigger it (most shows going away anyhow) by turning on extrafanart in the skin and syncing it to the db, so I’m thinking something is incompatible somewhere. Even without extrafanart it seems that eventually the TV shows from the pkc TV show node go away. The ones in the plex “TV Shows” are still there. Do you want me to get you some logs? Let me know what you need.
Again, you are using an alpha version of kodi. PKC is extremely taxing on kodi. Video nodes are unfortunately not known for their stability. All facts combined practically guarantee that you’ll be running into issues.
I’ll wait with attempting to fix anything but the most obvious bugs until Krypton / Librelec becomes more stable…
Sounds good. I worked around it by creating a specific user that didn’t have anything but the TV and Movie folders from plex shared so I don’t need to use the nodes.

Edit: Try PKC settings - Appearance tweaks - turn offExtend Plex TV Series "On Deck" view to all shows. PKC will then use the PMS On Deck view 1:1
I turned it off, and even did an “Update library” in Kodi (although I don’t know if that has any effect when running PKC), and it’s still showing the S00E02 special episode as “On Deck”. Also, the On Deck part is actually titled “Recommended” in the corner. Should it actually say On Deck? Again, didn’t find anything in the settings about this, it should all be mostly default.
Should I perhaps refresh the entire PKC library? Trying it now, will update if it works.
Edit: Nope, total reset of library and it’s still showing the Special episode as next up in On Deck.
You are indeed using the PKC video node labeled “on deck”, by navigating to e.g. Video - plugins - PlexKodiConnect - Movies - on deck? Should really mimick plex 1:1 when you changed the setting. Have you rebooted kodi?
I’ll check that specific path and see what it shows. Is there a way to configure the home screen node to point to that particular source? What is it pointed to as a default?
Kodi has indeed rebooted, though not by choice… Don’t know why, but Kodi started crashing a lot yesterday, when starting videos from the Recently Added part of the home screen. Probably restarted it three or so times, then it suddenly worked.
By the way, did you have any thoughts as to why a “home video” Plex source is showing up within the Movies library in PKC?

Concerning your video nodes and the home videos mixed in together, that is by design. Check the PKC wiki for a quick solution
I’ll hit you back tonight with logs when I get home from work.
I think I understand the On Deck/Recommended thing now. I suspect the skin I’m using isn’t pointing the right way (if I read the wiki page correctly). I’ll check that out tonight as well. Thanks so much for all the help so far!
Edit 1: Managed to get a VNC connection back home and look at a few things, and you’re absolutely right, navigating to PKC and choosing the On Deck option from there, it works just fine. It shows exactly what Plex would show. The problem, I think, is that the Amber skin is using a Kodi playlist of some kind to populate the home menu shelf, and I can’t find an option to point it somewhere else. Suppose I’ll have to edit the skin files. But regardless, PKC is working absolutely as intended in this regard, it’s my skin that’s messing things up.
Edit 2: Oh god… Editing the skin looks like at least a week’s worth of work, but on the other hand I love how it looks like classic Plex, and I’d really like to keep using it… @croneter do I understand it correctly, that I need to find a way to point a menu item or a skin “widget” to the specific video node pointing to the PKC On Deck item?
Edit 3: Amber seems… unhelpful. I enabled Aeon Nox instead, and manage to actually set up custom menu items that pointed to On Deck and Recently Released Plex libraries. But now I don’t have the nice PHT-like “shelves” that Amber offered…
Does anyone know of a good skin that resembles, or at least functions like, Plex Home Theater? And that supports PKC/video nodes?
Hello,
Is it possible to add an option to not sync the content into XBMC library?
I don’t really want to sync other guys content to my local library. Just imagine if the Netflix will sync their content to your library…
Thanks
Newly installed the add on and works great. One question, should updates be passed immediately to Kodi, for example when I add a movie/tv show or change the watched status on the server? Or is there a setting I can enable to make this happen?

@Nathaniel are you on Jarvis (Kodi 16) or Krypton (Kodi 17)? The default skin in 17 is very PHT like. Try the Estuarized skin to get the configurability. For 16, give Titan a try. It has a couple vertical setups that closely resemble PHT once you tweak some settings and colors. Its also one of the more configurable skins out there as far as home screen widgets go which will help you obtain the “shelf” look your looking for.

I’m keeping things on the stable end with Jarvis for now. I’ve tried Titan, and I just plain don’t like the looks But I supposed I could give it a second chance. Right now I have at least a working setup, where I can go into On Deck easily. Estuarized looked pretty nice, albeit a bit much like PMP, but seems to be in the same vein.

It is not possible on the kodi side to not sync the plex library.
It is also not possible on the plex media server side to disable synching for your users and friends. But then, if you don’t trust them, you shouldn’t be sharing anything anyway ;-). If you only share certain plex libraries with your users and friends, that of course is respected by PKC (not everything will be shown).

If you left the standard PKC settings intact, yes, new and changed pms items should he synced almost instantly (say 2 minutes ;-)). PKC will not display a pop-up though - the new items will just magically appear
Edit - watched status should be synced within <30 seconds

Nathaniel,
Try the Aeon Nox Silvio Mod. It has everything the regular Nox has and more. It lets you do two widgets per menu item and you can choose various styles (including panel much like PHT) , and can even do vertical instead of horizontal for even more of the PHT feel. I can’t imagine any skin getting closer.
I started using this a few days ago and I am quite happy with it! I have one question though. Is there anyway to be able to use the download subtitles add on to download subtitles to the folder of the video I am watching. With plexbmc this was possible, but with plexkodiconnect I haven’t managed to do it. When I press the download subtitles, I can find results, but when I download the subtitles they don’t go to the folder of the video. Obviously, I am asking because this worked fine before.

First of all congratulations for the excelent work!
I have a Plex Server installed in my QNAP NAS and and I am using PlexKodiConnect addon with excelent results in different devices (Windows, Raspberry).
My question is, in Plex I have 2 Movies Libraries configured . One for movies and other for VideoClips.
When I sync KODI with Plex I have, in kodi, only one section (MOVIES) with my movies and with my videoclips all together.
Is there anyway to differenciate the sync process in order to have my two libraries (in Plex) in two KODI sections?

Hi Croneter,
By my understanding the PlexKodiConnect is the Plex Client App, so the content should not be synced.
E.G.
Plex Android App does not modify the local libraries and the context is available via Plex App itself.
Not sure if Smart TV App sync the context locally.
Why Netflix/Youtube/VEVO plugins did not sync their context but it is possible to access and play it?
Why most of smartphone apps have the option to not sync their contacts into phone local contact library?
As @morenr1 said. It creates some issues in library management, as well as duplicates (local + remote).
Everybody has different library organization and the option to not sync into local library should be available.
If not, the only option is to use separately XBMC & Plex.

All arguments are very valid. Try using PlexBMC instead of PKC, they are doing exactly what you’re looking for.
On the other hand, PKC enables Kodi to do what it’s supposed to do precisely because the database is synced. Use any skin. Use almost any addon. Really fast fluent library scrolling. Check the wiki on github.com for more info on this - first page

Thank you for that tip! This skin seems to work absolutely perfectly, and no problems setting it up just the way I like either.
There’s just one minor issue, and only with my TV shows, and it’s that the thumbnail for each episode in my On Deck widget is a still from the episode. It’s nice, but gets a bit cluttered, and I’d rather just have the show or season poster. With Info enabled, it shows the still again, but this time forced into poster format, which just looks ridiculous. I don’t know if it’s the skin or PKC choosing these images, but do you know of any way to change them? I tried some of the different art choices, but several of them just default to the episode still regardless.
Example:
Interestingly enough, with Recently Added it works great. The episodes show with a still in the list, but the show poster in the Info view.
