PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I’m using the “play from here” submenu to binge watch some stuff & I’ve noticed that if I stop an episode right after its started the episode ends up being marked as watched.
This seems to only happen if I stop it within seconds of it starting . Otherwise it will correctly save the progress of the episode.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions to fix this? Is this a PKC issue or a kodi issue?
Thanks in advance.

Excellent work on this plug in! I was using plexbmc, but this one does everything I can hope for while still using my media server. Well, except for one minor thing I have yet to figure out.
I am running plex media server on Ubuntu and would like to use direct paths. In Plex, on Ubuntu, you add folders to your library regardless of the physical drives the folders are on. Therefore, I have for example TV Shows on two different physical drives.
ie media/videos/TV Shows and /media/storage/More TV. When I use direct paths, the shows on one drive show up but the shows on the second drive always produce a message about the file being no longer available.
Is there a way to use direct paths in this scenario, or do you have to have them on one physical drive?
Sorry if this has been asked and resolved, if so, perhaps a link to that post can be posted.

Enjoy the coffee’s

I’ve noticed this, too while testing but was hoping you guys wouldn’t ;-).

This seems to be a Plex issue. The PMS returns time in milliseconds, not seconds at the very beginning of a movie. It’s impossible to detect this with certainty. Luckily it only happens for the first couple of seconds

Thanks for the coffees!

Try this: setup a TV folder with symbolic links to your different TV folders. Then point the PMS to this new TV folder.

I’ve just realised that photos is now supported, which is great!

I had a quick try and setup the direct path, which seemed to work ok. However, when I setup the menu shortcut I was not able to view any photos. I can see the names of the files and even see a preview but when I select a photo I get a black screen.

Before I post up a log I thought that I may just be pointing the be the shortcut to the wrong location, any pointers?

I am running SPMC 16.3 on Nvidia shield tv.

Changelog

version 1.2.9

  • Don’t let the PMS force scan the media when requesting PMS item metadata
  • Improve detection of the need to transcode
  • Increase (and enforce) a higher connection timeout
  • Enable stream/media selection for direct play (e.g. if you have several files for the same movie item on the PMS)

Thanks. Thought about that right after hitting “Post Comment”.

I’m having some issues playing some files with PKC. The same files work fine with MPC-HC, PHT and through the Plex web client.

Here’s a part of the log with the error message:

Many thanks for letting me know, @AdDicti - stupid mistake of mine

Changelog

version 1.2.10

  • Hotfix: Fix ValueError for playing certain files

@croneter - just wondering if there is support for cast/actor images and if so how to implement it? none of my skins/addons appear to scrape/display my cast images.

is there a setting I am missing somewhere?

thanks for the continued PKC support. working great!!

Further to my previous post I have tried different shortcut paths, but all result in the same issues as above. Any advice on what to try?

Loving this add on btw! One thing though and it might not be addon related but when I click “start over” on an already started movie (from a widget) it resumes from where it left off instead. I also tested from clicking the movie in a library rather than the widget and it seems to work there.

How can I exclude certain Plex library folders from being synced to my Kodi library? I just want Moves and TV, and not any other folders where I store video files. Couldn’t see anything obvious in the PKC settings…

I have a Training & Tutorials folder on plex for storing other video content, but it has now ended up in the kodi Movies library…

Maybe an argument to exclude a folder from kodi library if it includes a ignore.me file, or similar?

You have to do this on the Plex side (as with all other Plex clients). Set-up a new home user (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/203948776-Managed-Users) and do not give him/her access to these Plex libraries.

OR, less strict (so you would still have access, but would not see the corresponding items within the movies)

Set-up Kodi to point to your Plex library video nodes: Video Nodes and Skins · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

Thanks for that… went down the new user route… simple when you know how!

Cheers

NVM - think I may have figured it out. If not, I’ll post my questions again.

Jupp, known issue. Unfortunately, kodi does not tell what you selected in widgets. So the standard behavior is to resume where you left off. If it bothers you, you can still switch to direct paths, should work there

Must be a kodi thing on your side. PKC syncs the actors etc. Names to kodi, that’s it. Kodi does the rest, including scraping pics. Works on my side

I think I finally found a memory leak and the cause that some PMS just hung up on PKC. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys!

Changelog

version 1.2.11

  • Fix PKC not releasing connections to the PMS. Should fix memory, connection and PMS issues
  • Fix TypeError for playlists

First of all, sorry for my English in advance, I’m Dutch J. I have a problem when I’m trying to start a video on Kodi and PKC with my android Plex app on my mobile. (with the cast app, use the mobile as remote). I can find my tv box perfectly and connect to it. But when I start a tv show it plays a different episode from that same show. So for example, when I try to play GoT S06E07 it plays GoT S04E07. When I don’t use my mobile and use Kodi itself to navigate to the tv show and play GoT S06E07 it works perfectly. Then it plays the write episode.

I tried to reset the database a few times, reinstall Kodi and PKC a few times and tried it PKC on different devices (both android boxes as windows systems), they all have the same problem.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks in Advance

@croneter thanks for your reply… I am still baffled… I have completely rebuilt my Kodi installs from scratch re-synced PKC and still no actor images display with even the standard skin. plus made sure my settings are set to scrap for actor images and still no actor images.

any more ideas anyone?
