I think they are working on multi user accounts for PLEX which will solve the watched/unwatched problem.
Also re the membership, you only need it if you want to use the sync fearture, if not then the multiple myPlex accounts will work fine
I've got my lifetime membership and am very happy with the service with one exception. In our house, we have several devices (android devices, ios devices, PHT, browsers, maybe a raspberry pi in our future) and different family members who are using these devices to watch their own shows and/or watch the same shows at different rates, which kind of messes up my watched/unwatched status when I pick up the Android tablet and see that my show isn't picking up where I left it.So, one option would be to have everyone in the house have their own PlexPass account, but that does get rather expensive for a household when you've got little ones running around. Is there anything in the plan for a family plan where you might be able to tie it to a single PMS? I'm just shooting in the dark here (rather than just throw out problems, trying to throw out some suggestions too :) )Also, if you've got several people who might be using the same devices, if you have a "family plan", it would be nice to have a quick "switch user" feature so you don't have to fully log out/log in to switch between one user and another.Thanks,--Ed
I'm having more or less the same issue, with the addition of my kids having separate MyPlex accounts so that I can only share the sections I let them watch, so multiuser isn't the end all solution.

There are other reasons to have the membership, like getting features early (even if they're in beta). For example, I just got a Google TV for my kids, and I want to sign in using their account so they can only watch what I've shared with them, but I can't because that app is currently PlexPass only.
I would also like some plan for multiple users. But it should be together with the app.
For my family it gets pretty expensive to buy multiple plex passes + apps for each google acc on android....
I agree...I would like for the kids to have sub accounts under my main plexpass so they can use the sync function. Only reason I want it to restrict what libraries they can see.
Another linked issue is guests. When friends and family visit they throw off watched flags.
Agreed on all the points here.
This would take me from the monthly to the lifetime subscription.
Thanks

How does that work exactly? I don't have a google tv. To update the app you need PlexPass? or to use shared libraries you need PlexPass?
If you need plexpass to only update the app then login with your account and update it then log off

There are two Google TV apps. One is Plex for Google TV, and one is "Kepler." In order to use the Kepler version, which is the one I want, you need to be signed in with a PlexPass account.

Oh i see. Okay. Contact the dev team for a discounted price on bulk plexpass purchases.
It's only fair.

This is in the feature voting section, right?
I think there should be a more elegant solution than contacting the dev team. And I'm not looking for bulk PlexPass. I'm looking for a way that allows me to set up accounts for my children (who are all under the age of 10), and still receive the benefits of having PlexPass membership. Surely you don't think it's fair that I should have to go and purchase PlexPass for each of my children, so that I can control what content they watch?

On my last comment i said "it's only fair"
What you are looking for doesn't exist. Well it does but not implemented. It's call mutiuser and parental controls.
So i was suggesting that you ask for a bulk purchase so you can still do what you need to do as a work around.

You're absolutely correct. I don't see a reason to have multiple PlexPasses just so you can control what the kids watch.

If multi-user is actually implemented as multiple users under a single account, then that would be great, both in terms of parental controls and being under the same PlexPass account. If it is not, then the problem remains.

I guess people have trouble reading. since what he wants to do is not yet implemented. Please obi wan, tell us how else can he do it NOW?
I clearly stated it was a workaround
workaround - A method for overcoming a problem or limitation in a program or system.
You want to get Z but first you have to go through A & B. You don't A yet. You don't have B but yet you want to get to Z.
Family membership would be what exactly? a bunch of single dependent accounts under one master account. - Parental controls LOL
Xbox has family membership and it is design just the same way i just explained.

I don't know why you're getting all worked up about this. This is the feature request section. If users didn't post here based on the feature not being present, then no one would ever be making feature requests.
It is understood that this is a workaround. We just want to make sure that when the proper implementation comes around (which multiuser hopefully is), it will take those with our situation into account.

While parental controls is closely related to this topic, it is mainly about PlexPass. Let's just focus on that.

Wow.. Why are you being such a jerk about this. It's a Feature Request forum. He's voting for a feature. Why is that so hard to understand?
Just BTW, I took this from the blog post about server version 0.9.8 under the Multiuser Support section:
You can create a myPlex account for your kids, and only give them access to certain sections, which is a first baby step towards our vision of rich parental controls. (http://elan.plexapp.com/2013/06/04/plex-media-server-0-9-8-a-giant-step-towards-1-0/).
Seems like it's a little more than just a workaround, and actually still necessitates this feature request.
