I have a strange issue with my PlexServer. I have a series witch is not played on my SmartTV (Samsung PlexApp). The issue is the following:
On my TV plex show that the file could not be found. In the llogs I found this:
Aug 08, 2019 18:48:11.137 [5204] ERROR - Error opening file ‘“I:\series\S01E01 - title.mkv”’ - No such file or directory (2). My Problem is I have no drive I. If I take a look per web on it the file information shows: S:\series\S01E01 - title.mkv (the correkt one). I have deleted the library and create it new but the issue are the same. Plex tried to play rthis file from the wrong device. This issue is only on my TV. If I use the web player it works fine.
Have anyone a idea why the PlexServer tried to play the file from an other device only from my TV?
Did your drive ever become unplugged and get assigned a new drive letter when remounted maybe?
When you go into the web app and click Get Info for that episode what path does it show for the file? maybe it shows multiple paths
Also you should never only have the root of the drive as your library folder. Meaning don’t add only S:\ as the path for the library. If they are tv shows you should have an intermediate folder between the root and the show. Like S:\TV\seriesname\S01E01 where you add S:\TV\ to the library. You will eventually run into weird issues if you don’t. (not that this issue was caused by that)
No the device is always connected as S and was not connected with an other drive letter. An second a have ofcurse S:\seriesname\season 01\S01E01. (On this drive are only series) And the web Interface only show one file on drive S no multiple paths. I dont know where the tv get the I letter. This issiue is only by one series all other works fine with the same directory structure.

you still need S:\tv\seriesname\season 01\S01E01 Don’t put the show folder on the root of the drive or you will eventually run into weird issues.
I have since years only series on this drive in root of the drive and no issues with it. If you have both series and movies on one drive I understand the splitting but this seems not to be the root cause because all other series works without this strange issue.
And as I already mentioned the get info show only one path, so why only the TV try to get this file from dire letter I. Web interface is working and play the file from the correct drive letter. Metadata is loaded correctly. Only one series is affected. Only if I try to play the file from TV PLex switch the drive letter to I. The web player loads from S and play the file as usal.
In the app on your Samsung go into its settings and hit enable log to server. this will write its logs to your server logs. try to play something and after it fails get the plex media server.log
