PMP 2.19.1 on Windows - 25fps broken

Player Version#: 2.19.1

After updating to 2.19 and now also 2.19.1, 25fps videos are no longer switching display mode correctly. They’re setting the tv to 50fps which is causing stutter.

Was always working before these latest 2 updates with no issues. Nothing else has changed.

Display mode switching works for all other frame rate videos.

Just noticed that 29fps video is broken as well, and display mode switching is setting my tv to 60fps.

What’s happened with these latest updates?

Post your plexmediaplayer.conf file please.

Might be related to this.

Still having issues with this. On the latest version of PMP. I have logs I can upload if any devs can take a look?

Hmmmm. Looking at my plexmediaplayer.conf file and I can see some weird stuff in there. Stuff that doesn’t seem to be in the PMP settings menus.

refreshrate.auto_switch is True
Allowdisplaymodeswitching is False (what?)
refreshrate.avoid_25hz_30hz is True (again, what?)

Should I change these manually? How did these appear?

Change that value to false if you actually want 25Hz, 29.97Hz and 30Hz

I changed it. Went back into PMP, and all of the settings were back to default. It wasn’t logged in, opened in web mode. I went back through the settings and changed everything. Pressed play on a 25fps video, and it plays at 50fps.

Do I need to change the setting and then make the file read-only? It seems like if you modify that file Plex just deletes it and recreates a default one.

Edit: Nevermind, I changed one of the other settings and I think that broke it. Just changing the “avoid_25hz_30hz” and relaunching, fixed my issue.

Not sure when this “feature” was added, but it should probably be removed. Or at least make a menu option for it. No idea why I would ever want that setting because it just makes all my videos play at the wrong frame rate. So I get frame stuttering.

Definitely change that to “false” by default, if any devs are reading this.

Thanks for the help @Achilles

Your usage requires it and now you have changed the default setting. I am glad it resolved your issue. There are many technical reasons why 25fps/29.97/30fps should always be played at the respective refresh rates of 50Hz/59.94/60Hz that I really don’t want to go into detail here. It is best practice and thats why its the default.
