In either PMP or the new Plex for Windows app, how is Music quality handled? The home streaming option is geared around video only it seems. Does music play at original quality, even flac?
Also, I don’t see any of the video settings in the new plex for windows that I have in TV mode in PMP. Will they be added?
I just tested a FLAC music file on my PC with the new app, and it shows it as direct play. So it seems to be fine.
Per other threads on this topic, the old TV mode and video settings aren’t expected to return. There are some other threads on this if you’re in the mood to read more.
PMP played every flac file directly I have thrown at it, up to 192kHz, 24bit, 5.1 channel
It doesn’t support DSD or some of the other exotic formats like musepack or monkeys audio.
It does however happily play DTS 5.1 audio-only files, either naked or in a matroska container.
It might however perform sample-rate conversion, if ‘exclusive mode’ in the settings is not activated.
(This cannot be used with all sound interface types.)
