It could just be that the google play store likes to do staggered rollouts of releases. I’ve had to wait 24-48 hours for dot releases to show up in the past just because of however they do the hunger games style decision of who gets it first.
@“MovieFan.Plex” This is getting old - we’re two versions behind - again. And this update supposedly fixes a lot of DVR functionality. Please get the update out on the Play Store - or publish the apk so I can update myself.
I’m wondering too. Another PMS update today, and still nothing released. We’re three versions behind now. What’s most bothersome is that the Plex employees aren’t even acknowledging it here. @“MovieFan.Plex”
As previously mentioned, the release to the Play store is done manually. We typically wait a few days after the regular before sending to Google. The last few updates have had bugs resulting in needing a quick hotfix. This pushes back releasing to Google. Once these settle down, we will release to the Play store.

That’s a pretty poor excuse @“MovieFan.Plex” for someone not doing some leg work. We’ve been waiting MONTHS for a DVR fix, and a relatively major fix was released, that others are reporting fixed a lot of problems. And Shield owners don’t have access to it.
Now I’m supposed to wait for a hotfix - that will come when? And keep suffering with my DVR not working right? And then when you are about to release it and then realize it will require another hotfix, you won’t release it until that hotfix?
I paid to be a Plex Pass member so I’d have access to the latest betas. Release them on the Play Store when all PMS betas are released - like was stated when I signed up - or publish the apk as a link like the rest of the PMS platform releases.

I understand wanting to get the DVR fixes, but 1.11.1.4753 was released only a week ago.

Hotfixes are released due to a significant problem with the previous version. We don’t do this often. PMS on the Shield can’t be rolledback easily like the desktop version, we’d rather be a little more cautious about releasing a buggy build than having to force users to rollback and having to start over to get a working version.

It’s never been stated that the Beta release for the Shield would be released at the same schedule as other Betas. For the reason I mentioned above, I do not expect Plex to change their decision.

It may never have been stated explicitly, but it’s a fair assumption unless there’s been a statement to the contrary.
It’s a problem of expectations.
If Beta releases for all other platforms except the Shield appear at the same time, then could you add a boilerplate reminder to each PMS Beta release similar to:
Updates for the Shield may be delayed if subsequent hotfixes are required, due to the logistics involved in publishing releases to the Google Play Store. As a result, the formal Shield releases may skip a beta version or two before final publication.
This would help set expectations for new Shield users and remind existing Shield users not to get their hopes up. And save you an earbending

Well said, and totally agree. @“MovieFan.Plex” It’s beyond frustrating waiting and waiting and waiting for the DVR fix for the “100% recording stuck” bug, It finally comes, and I can’t get it. Some updates are more important than others, and I’d argue the release right after the current beta the Shield is on is the one that supposedly fixes the majority of the issues.
I could care less about the current fix, something about hubs, but the DVR fix is a big one that I need to help with reliable recording.
Expectation management like @DavidAndAndrea outlines would help, but would still be frustrating on an update to a feature that’s been reported as not working right for a long time.
I checked with the devs. 1.11.2 just got released but it’s just a minor update to the previous 1.11.1 which they’ve deemed as being stable enough, so 1.11.2 will be heading to the store soon.
@“MovieFan.Plex”
Could you ask Plex to add a reminder as @DavidAndAndrea said?
Would be useful to know that Android user does not get the same features of other users until the code monkeys will able to make a working build.
Would be also useful to let users to know what is working and what is not working (ie live tv and dvr which are broken) and that there is not a real customer service before they buy a Plex Pass.
I love Plex, and I think would be better for you to ask for a donation to support the software development instead of selling a non working service.
Also eagerly awaiting these updates. I searched and found these posts while looking for status updates on the Shield rollout of recent 1.11.X builds after having issues with my recordings getting stalled at 100% every few days. I laid down $300 a week ago on a tuner, hard drive, and lifetime plex pass and have had about 50/50 success with recordings.
