PMS 1.18,0.1944
Gets stuck when generating video preview thumbnails - not moving forward and stays like that.
This not always happens - let’s say every 6/8 video preview generation.
Actually this process is moving but very, very, very slow.
It takes about 45 minutes to generate preview for 45 minute episode at 480p.
Next video in line is also generated at this extremely slow speed.
Hello there, did you just upgrade from PMS 1.17 or 1.16? What model NAS? Can you get any debug mode logs from Settings - Troubleshooting - Download Logs?
What is your CPU load? 100%?
Hi nibbles.
I am upgrading PMS only when “official” upgrades are available.
So going a little bit back, started with 1.17.0.1841 (the best so far)
That it was the terrible 1.18.0.1913 where playback of every AVI file was terrible, but video preview was about 10 times faster than before (Plex did impressive job here).
Now I ended up with 1.18.0.1944 - no more issues with AVI playback but ended up with preview problem.
This is not any issue with CPU overloading - this one shows load between 1% and 4% - most of the time is 2%.
I managed to pin point the source of the problem with this extremely slow preview generation.
I have two servers running Plex (same version on both of them).
NAS1 (DS1819+) and NAS2(my old DS1815+ used as a backup).
Server 2 is basically a clone of Server 1 (same stuff on both).
Now, when both of servers are on line, video preview generation is fast (normal) on second server (old one) but extremely slow - almost not moving on the first (main) server.
When I will turn second server down, movie preview generation returns to fast on first, main server.
So that’s basically it - some correction will be necessary in next update of Plex.
that is almost keystone cops funny. I hope it’s not too awful though.
Can we get some logs? You could search them yourself for
- error
- sqlite3
- fail
Yes, it’s a lot of fun with Plex, but I have enough of Plex issues for today.
Hoping this problem will end up in development team.
