PMS 1.18.7.2457
I have two Synology servers running Plex (same media libs on both of them).
When you will add movie to server1 and someone is watching movie from this server (Roku or Apple TV 4k) at the same time, movie preview generation is getting stuck.
At the same time there is no problem with fast movie preview generation on server 2.
Problem is always on the server when playback is involved at the same time.
There was no similar issues with previous version of the PMS.
Synology server’s are VERY hard pressed to do anything while importing new media.
The CPUs are VERY limited. While good as a NAS processor, they do not make the best Media Server processors. This is why Hardware Acceleration is needed to make it viable in any way.
My recommendation is to only import media when you aren’t streaming.
If you had a big Xeon-class, it would be different.
As I mentioned above, I had no such problems with previous versions of PMS.
Also direct playback is involved with no transcoding.
Then all I can advise is either rolling back to what you do have locally or Downloading from the Synology Package Center (I think it’s the previous version? )
Either way. I AM going to need to see Log files. I cannot diagnose in a vacuum.
I also had a lot of problems with this version on qnap … I went back to the previous one;)
Thanks ChuckPA, but there is nothing that you can do with this issue.
That’s how the latest upgrade works.
I’ll wait for new version, perhaps they will be able to correct this issue.
What even worst, daily maintenance will not correct the problem.
When movie preview generation will get stuck, the only solution is manual correction.
Playback will need to stop, you will need to remove media file from shared folder, run scan, clean media bundles, empty rash and again to save the media file.
Extremely annoying issue.
