PMS 1.41.0.8930 QNAP package broken

Server Version#: 1.41.0.8930

Package installation is broken:

# sh PlexMediaServer-1.41.0.8930-056c2ed26-x86_64.qpkg
Install QNAP package on TS-NAS...
./
./qpkg.cfg
./package_routines
./qinstall.sh
./built_info
4224+1 records in
4224+1 records out
105031259 bytes (100.2MB) copied, 1.438244 seconds, 69.6MB/s
102562+0 records in
102562+0 records out
105023488 bytes (100.2MB) copied, 1.439515 seconds, 69.6MB/s
PlexMediaServer 1.40.5 is already installed. Setup will now perform package upgrading.
Firmware check is fine.
Stopping Plex Media Server...
Link service start/stop script: plex.sh
Set QPKG information in /etc/config/qpkg.conf
Starting Plex Media Server...
/etc/init.d/plex.sh: line 246: /Plex Media Server: No such file or directory
#

This is caused because after installation /etc/config/qpkg.conf only contains

[PlexMediaServer]
Enable = TRUE

which breaks QPKG_DIR in /etc/init.d/plex.sh.

Rolling back to PMS 1.40.5.8897 fixes the issue:

# sh PlexMediaServer-1.40.5.8897-e5987a19d-x86_64.qpkg
Install QNAP package on TS-NAS...
./
./qpkg.cfg
./package_routines

I think it did the same thing to my QNAP install, but rolling back only made it see it as a new server that I can’t get to go away and bring my existing one back online.

@ChuckPa

Ok, who broke it ? :slight_smile:

Where is PMS installed (which volumes) and show me /etc/config/qpkg.conf – at least the [PlexMediaServer] section…

Lastly, Do you have NVIDIA_GPU_DRV installed ?

I don’t touch the value of QPKG_DIR

Rolling back didn’t work for me. Server had “vanished”. I had to reinstall from scratch. However, I made a copy of Plex Media Server folder, reinstalled, copied my folder back over and I was back…except the server version number is incorrect.

@kmfurdm

Unfortunately, that doesn’t tell me anything I can work on.

I need more details please

You only lose your server data when you Uninstall

@ChuckPa

If needed I can give you access to my QNAP to check.
We have an old PM running where I have attached some info

By the way, installing the latest official solved the issue for now

Folks, I’m working with Bronco (remote into his machine)

We found QuTS thinks his PMS is installed on ZFS5_DATA and not ZFS530_DATA where it belongs.

I made a manual edit and his machine now works.

It works on QTS without issue for me.

PLEASE let me know who has QTS & QuTS and whether it works or doesn’t work so I can isolate if a QNAP error or I really broke it. :frowning:

I’m running QTS and the update ruined my server as well. I have not been able to get mine back yet either.

I’m sorry… I don’t mean to sound cold… No drama please.

Please reinstall the public version while I work on this.

Don’t update until I complete investigation

I installed an older version and it shows my server as unavailable but also shows an unclaimed server available. I’d like to get my server back without having to rebuild it all

I hope you didn’t uninstall plex at any point .
If you did, the database is wiped clean

I didn’t the app just disappeared when I installed the new version… I can roll back to an earlier snapshot plus I have backups of the DB file saved but I just can’t seem to get it to go back right online…

@Madbeefer

Is your machine at LAN IP 192.168.15.150 ?

It shows as not having been seen in about 1 day.

Yes that is mine.

Are you on 5.2.0.2860 firmware ?

I installed the update late last night and that’s when it went horribly wrong haha

Whose update? QNAP’s or mine? :rofl:

I’m working / tracking down a firmware issue

Prerequisite – PMS shows in App Center.

IF – if App Center hangs – then we’ve found the problem.
(I had to manually craft & adjust an entry for Bronco)

I’m trying to identify what the problem is and why it doesn’t work on this new QNAP firmware… It’s worked all summer in test

That sounds like the right firmware. And it was when I installed the Plex update last night that things got off the rails
