Hi all
About six months ago Plex started playing up with the DVR and my HDHomerun. It would show as being connected, but would not show any channels connected and the DVR was empty. I kept trying to remove and re-add it, but then a day or so later it would be back to no channels, and in the end I gave up and started using Emby for DVR duties (I record a load of kids TV in the mornings from CHannel 5 for my young daughter).
I would like to get Plex working properly with the DVR again, but think I need some help. I’ve seen a similar issue in this post;
However, when I try to delete or rename the files mentioned and restart PMS I get an error on the DVR page and it’s linking me to the Plex forums for help.
When I add them back and restart PMS again it gives me the option to search for compatible DVRs, but it just will not find my HDHomerun on the local network, and entering the IP address manually doesn’t work either.
And now it’s broken again! Gah!
It was fine yesterday and I’d set it up to record a few things this morning, but when I checked this morning nothing was recorded and when I go to the DVR page it says something went wrong and doesn’t show any EPG, etc.
Any chance someone could have a look at the logs please? I’ve uploaded them to dropbox;

Thanks, I’ve tried that. The first method didn’t resolve it but it looks like the second might have, I’ll see how it goes over the next few days.
Thanks again!
I’ve tried actually playing a live channel and they all get an error saying “Playback Error, Source is unavailable”. That seems to be on every channel I’ve tried. Any suggestions?

Still complaining about the corrupt database. I wonder if the tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud is corrupt.
Stop plex and delete the 3 tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud* files and the start Plex, refresh the guide.
You are running Plex as a service with is generating a multitude of WARN - Shell_NotifyIcon(NIM_ADD) failed: 0x80004005. Can you login and run Plex till this is cleaned up.
Yes, I use nssm to have PMS run as a service at log on as my desktop mostly runs headless, accessed via RDP and often doesn’t have a user logged in at reboot (which I believe is needed before Plex will start normally?)
OK, so I have stopped the service (and the Plex update service), exited Plex and deleted the three EPG files in the databases folder, and then restarted Plex and refreshed the user guide, but still not playing.
I then deleted the DVR and added a new DVR to Plex and then tried to play, but still the same. I then repeated the above process (ie stopped, deleted the EPG and restarted and refreshed) but still the same.
One thing I do notice; even after deleting both the EPG db files and removing the DVR from Plex and adding it back in it has retained the old recording schedule, so it’s presumably not removing all of the DVR related files. I’ve uploaded a screenshot of what the DVR schedule looks like even after doing all the above and not creating any new recordings;
On Windows, Plex was written to run as a User process, running as a service has some side effects like no Hardware Transcoding and shell notify messages.
I think you have the major issues cleared up now. No database corruption messages.
The scheduled recordings are stored in another table in the database. Some appear to be from before the switch to gracenote EPG and need to be deleted and recreated. Others are pointing to a storage location that doesn’t exist or is not writable. Do this for anything that isn’t recording or at least go through each scheduled recording and re-select the library location.
For the Live tv not playing, need the time and show you were trying to tune in. Most of what I see is the stream is unrecognizable or unable to write to storage which would be library locations. Do you have any invalid paths added to the library?
Last issue seems to be Trakt which I can’t help with.
Ah, yes…! It seems I’d forgotten I’d moved the location of recorded TV to another drive a few months ago and forgotten to repoint them to Plex (as the DVR hadn’t been working!)
OK, so they now have the correct paths and should hopefully record (looks like the couple that were pointed to existing locations did work last night, so that’s positive).
Strange with the live playback, but progess. I still can’t get it live playing through my browser, but it does play in the Plex app on my tablet and phone (so presumably the Android TV app as well). At the moment Plex is just running as a user (I’ve disabled the service and run it within Windows) so presumably that’s not an issue whilst I’m testing. At least it is working other than in the browser and I don’t really use it that way anyway, so that’s fine.
I wasn’t aware of Trakt errors, I’ll see if I can find what they are.
