Plex Media Server Logs_2023-04-28_09-45-43.zip (2.1 MB)

So for the past week or so I have been dealing with plex server crashes/reboots of the whole server itself. I first noticed the reboots were occurring between 2-3am which is the time I have plex set to do maintenance. I have narrowed it down to it being plex as there is the absolute minimal amount of software on and running when it happens. It will happen when plex is adding media to a library, updating metadata, or modifying data in high succession such as splitting duplicates and renaming, re-matching.

I have restored backups going back several days no change. I then restored my furthest backup to last month when I do not recall this happening. I also did a complete removal of the program and all plex data and reinstalled and restored. As of this morning right after doing that and running plex it rebooted the server. Event viewer just shows that the system was unexpectedly restarted. There is no BSOD just a hard reset.

All drivers, Windows updates, firmware for the system has been updated. I have run memory tests and cpu stress testing and the system is fine for the entire duration of those. Without plex running the system stays up without issue. I have attached the logs in hopes someone can help. I wanted to try this troubleshooting prior to just doing a complete rebuild of the plex data folder.

Any help is appreciated.

So as an update. I did a clean start of plex and let it rescan my movie library. It was going pretty good for a couple hours but did eventually cause the system to restart again. This was on version 1.32.0.6973.

Besides a clean install of Windows 10 I am running out of ideas as to what in the system would cause this now. Like I said I have stress tested the memory and cpu. I don’t see anything plex could be doing to push those beyond safe limits but I would have also assumed just the plex app would have crashed not the system.

As an addendem to my initial post there was a BSOD it seems from this mornings crash but that is not always the case so it slipped my mind to look.

So after replacing the ssd plex resides on. Doing a clean Windows 10 install and only having the needed drivers and plex installed. Adding the one movie library it ran for about 2 hours and then crashed with a BSOD. This time the “fltmrg.sys” driver failed but plex was hung on scanning media when it happened.

I am not sure where to go from here with it as I think I have ruled out all the hardware that could potentially cause this issue.
