PMS constantly stopping after Shield Experience update

I have updated the Shield TV from Experience 5.2 to 6.2 and Plex Media Server is causing issues.

I have uninstalled Plex/PMS updates, removed my server, updated the apps and tried to set it up again.
After a few “Verison 0.9.7.13 or higher required”, the PMS finally was set up.

But each time I start the Plex app, the server shows to be offline. I have to go to Settings, and turn it on again.

Anyone experienced this issue?

Maybe no connection to the data storrage … to set manually with shield settings - only idea I’m not sure

W.

The Shield is connected to a NAS. I am aware of the NAS issues but that’s not the case because I’m able to access the files on the NAS using another app.

Exact same problem.

Also, after I turn PMS back on again I can only see the media folders across the top. I have to sign out and re-link with my laptop in order to see the dashboard (recently added, on deck etc).

I’ve tried everything I can think of. I’m on the brink of abandoning Plex altogether.

Please help anyone!

For me Plex on Shield TV no longer works st all. Using the Shield’s server yields a setver crash when attempting to play music. The crash dialogue states transcoding error but it shouldn’t be transcoding so I don’t know what the problem is. Plex worked fine for me for almost two years on the shield but now I’m back to using Kodi. I periodically check this board for similar issues and hopefully a fix but nothing yet.

That’s worrying! I’ve yet to do the latest update as my shield is kept in the cupboard plugged into my NAS with no monitor attached so have to specifically go get it out and plug it into the TV. Maybe i’ll hold off on this update for while. I presume there are users who have done the Nvidia update and are still using PMS ok?

For me PMS goes down couple times per week like that:

Were you able to solve this?
I’m still having the same issue and when I look in my logs, I see the same lines

I think this is happening when I restart the shield. Can you confirm that?
Even though my NAS shows as connected and I’m able to access the files through an explorer app, it looks like that’s the cause of the problem.
I have disconnected from the NAS and connected back again.
Plex worked without any need to go to settings and restarting PMS. Let’s see how long it lasts.

No. But I noticed it happens when android unloads plex app. So i tested it, double-clicking home and closing plex. PMS went down every time.
Seems like PMS is child process to plex app.
Now I keep plex activity on screen and server keeps running.

Mine still runs if I close the Plex app. It stops running and stopping after I reboot the shield. I see there has been an update just today. Let’s hope it solves the issue.
