When on Plex if I ask to see my media I am directed to obtain plex media server. I dowload and install pms and am told to restart computer…, I do so and still do not have access to my media. At no time have I seen any link to library in plex. My LG tv recognizes PMS and its directories but shows no contents. I tried following your written guides and watched your video as wel l. I have removed and reinstalled Plex web 3 times and PMS 7 times. What am I doing wrong?
Well, first off all, Plex Web (accessing your content through a web browser) is part of the PMS so you don’t install / uninstall just one or the other.
You also access your PMS install through the web, for example at:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop and the click on the Settings icon on the upper right.
So please post a screenshot from when you visit that url (https://app.plex.tv/desktop)
Or if that URL is working, then please step through this guide carefully. If you get stuck or something doesn’t work as expect, STOP and post exactly where you get stuck.

OK first capture is plex home when I went to the first link
I do not remember ever seeing a lauch icon when first dowloading plex
When I tried to activate PMS via Windows app page and double click, all I got was the pop up options of repair or remove. The app section shows Plex and Plex Media Server as discrete programs, not as a unified application.
Yes, there is a Plex app for Windows which is not the same as the Plex web client, which comes with Plex Media Server. You mentioned Plex web so I went with that, not understanding you meant the Plex app.
It’s a tad confusing I know.
Leave Plex alone for now and focus on Plex Media Server. Try uninstalling that and then reinstalling. Ideally it should launch a browser to sign you in (or create a new account) and start the Setup Wizard.
Did as requested. I note that the PMS download was approximately .5 megs than the earlier ones. Still no launch. Tried opening as administrator from start menu. Same Plex screen, same message if I want my media I must download PMS. which I have just done. What now?
Are you installing it as Administrator?
Also your above screenshot doesn’t show you using this URL:
Please try that URL.
My choice is to open or open as administrator. No install choice offered. I used open as administrator. The screen cap for the link you suggested. doesn’t insert here. It shows options home. news and more which opens to choice of my media which upon being opted returns to the PMS downloads request. PMS is not recognized inside this page.
I apologize, I’m having a hard time following your last post.
Are you saying that when you use the URL I requested, you get the same “Get your Plex Media Server” message? Or that message no longer shows up?
I think I really need the screenshot for this URL. Can you try again?
Somewhat, but I don’t know why you keep ending up at 127.0.0.1
So that 127.0.0.1 URL should work as long as you’re using the web browser on the same computer you installed PMS on. Is that the case?
same computer
So, when you install PMS, what Windows account are you using? A “regular” user or are you installing it while logged in as the Administrator?
Sorry to be so dim. I log in as self administrator
So then you definitely need to make sure that when you start PMS you are still logged in as Administrator. Is that happening?
I do not change my login. How do I determine if I have lost administrator status?
Hmm… I’m stumped, sorry. I’m not a big Windows user anymore. I don’t understand why you can’t access it from the local URL but you can from external one.
Can you do this: go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop and then click on the Settings on the upper right? It looks like a pair of “tools”, just to the right of “Go Premium”.
Done .
Sorry, screenshot?
