PMS don't updates proper play timing on media

so i dont know what the f** is going on lately with this, either is the app or the server,

since version 1.9.4 on samsung 2013 tv player, the time is not counting properly

so the movie ended

and the server still showing that are 5 min left

after that screen goes black so i have to wait 5 min for the server to update or whatever f**k he does till jump to the next episode.

so what is going on ?

i asked about this problem few weeks ago and i asked nicely but no plex employ care to give a replay

“The problem appear after i changed to my new server, i had to reassign a letter for my drive and i put back the database and funny that this affects only TV shows and no problems with movies”

It would probably help if you posted in the right section of the forum.

i doubt it that is from PMP because i sideloaded a older version for samsung 2013 smart tv and does the same

only 2 things i am thinking of, either something got bugged when i changed my server machine and i copy paste entire Plex Media Server folder from \AppData\local or server is bugged, i will try to use a older version 1.4.4.34.95 that i know i had no problem with, other way i have no other ideas, or something wrong with my machine

You are not running PMP. That is a specific player, it is not a generic term for all of Plex’s apps. You are running the Samsung Smart Hub app. Yes, there may have been a change in the server. That Samsung app is a 3rd party app (officially supported by Plex) but is still a 3rd party and developed by a user named Orca. There may be an incompatibility with his app so it would be best to ask there so he can verify.

i know what Orca does, however my point is the problems appear once new servers came available and new Plex Player for Samsung 2013 is available, so since i noticed first problem, i start doing test, since last week still doing tests and still same problems. I though that is the Plex player so i downgrade that today and used with latest version of Plex Server and i got same problem, and now i downgraded plex server to 1.4.4.34.95, and first tests seems to be fine. However i will play more media on this downgraded versions and i will post a update, might be a bugg with Pplayer for 2013 Samsung and Plex Servers above 1.9.x.x, i am frustrated because this is my primary source of using plex

and by the way i think is the server

and still no fix

It could very well be something the server side has implemented that the client isn’t prepared for or compatible with. If that’s the case, Orca will need to know about it so a fix can be implemented. I don’t think he routinely patrols this area of the forums… so he may never see this post.

i will post your message @AmazingRando24 on TV section

Exactly. There may have been a server change he was unaware of so his app does not respond properly. I don’t use his app so I can’t check. If you see problems with other clients, then let me know and we can definitely check if something on the server side is wrong, but so far I can’t reproduce your issue on other Plex clients.

@MovieFan.Plex

After last night (of playing as usual) even with downgraded software i get same problems, i still don’t know why i have this problem, i don’t know if is because of the files or my machine

Some update: i did a clean install of the OS and clean install of plex server, and is look like is working fine for the moment, i don’t know what was causing that, maybe a bug after windows update

So the swearing and cussing wasn’t required or warranted. Surprise surprise.

@KarlDag that took me half of the day mate, to configure and install, so what all the time when i have a problem like that i have to reinstall my OS ? sorry but i do not want to stay all the time alerted when there is a windows update ( and that is only my guess that was from windows) that i have to reinstall OS just because of that

I’m just saying perhaps complaining about Plex in the Plex forums when the OS is your issue is counterproductive.

like i said, i am not even sure if was from OS or not, that server was working fine till latest PMS update, and windows was updated long before that

i spoke to soon, the problem came back.
for some reason this problem appear again last night, does not mater if a file is .mkv or .avi, some episodes they have that black screen waiting time and some of them if they finish are not marked as watch

Logs please.

@MovieFan.Plex
those are some older logs when i mention for the first time about the problem, i have restarted the server machine last night and i enable verbose logging and from my tv to send debug to PMS and i will add new logs

for now maybe you can give me a explanation what is going on :disappointed:

PS: in case if do not have problems, new logs will be posted when problems appear again

I can’t find in that log where the playback stopped. I do see 2 issues in your log. I don’t know if these are exactly causing your issues, but they may point to something.

1 - PMS cannot determine your public IP. This doesn’t mean much if you are just running locally, but it could point to a problem with your network so there may be an issue with your internal network too.

2 - PMS is having trouble accessing it’s internal database from time to time. Something it causing it to be busy so accessing it slow and in some cases not possible, which could explain the watched status not updating. This could be due to the database having gotten corrupted. You can follow this guide to check and repair if this is the case, https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201100678-Repair-a-Corrupt-Database. Or you have another program (like a virus scanner or backup utility) that is accessing the database location.

Please try next time to gather the logs right after you experience the issue.
