PMS Hanging in Metadata Updating of Movies

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f
Server host : QNAP NAS

I have a problem in all new plex server versions . The issue is the metadata updating hanging in certain movies . When the metadata update start it will hang after reaching one of the movies (random) and it will not resume updating till the server is restarted and after the restart the plex server will not work till the NAS is restarted ! I tried all versions and faced the same issue which force me at the end to downgrade the version to the last one working fine with me which is 1.25.3.5409 . I hope i can get a solution so i keep the latest version to get the new features benefits.

Make sure PMS Logs are set to debug only, then reproduce, and upload a zip with the logs

When that’s said, I see you used QNAP’s own Multimedia share to put your movies in.
This is NOT recommended!
Ref: Qnap faq.....read me first!

So for a short test, try this:

  • Create a new share, and name it like medias
    • In that share, create a directory named movies
  • Edit your movie library, and add the the movies directory from above
  • In the movies directory, create a directory named Trolls 2 World Tour (2020) {imdb-tt6587640}
  • In QTS Filestation, move the file to this new directory, and name it: Trolls 2 World Tour (2020) {imdb-tt6587640} [2160p.BluRay.x265.10bit.SDR.DTS-HD.MA.TrueHD.7.1.Atmos-SWTYBLZ].mkv

In above, I assume it’s an .mkv file, since not clear from the logs

Doing all this, you follow our recommendation regarding where to put your medias, as well as follow the naming guide (This could be the issue, if not matched properly)

For details about the naming guide, look here:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/

Hi Dear,

thanks for the guidance , I transferred all my files in the Multimedia shared drive to new one i created then I refreshed the all metadata after editing the library path. Now working fine without a single issue .

thanks a lot
