I’m currently using the 32-bit version of PMS on Windows 10. Can you guys advise me on how to migrate properly? The reason I’m asking is that I have lots of custom cover art for Movies/Tv Shows and Collections. I don’t want to lose it.
Should be a rather straight forward update, although you’ll need to manually install the 64-bit version. This will uninstall the 32-bit version in the process but shouldn’t touch your server config / libraries / media at all.
I just did this. You might, as I did, have to first uninstall the 32 bit version manually, but that can be done without affecting your existing setup — it’s commonly done to roll back to an earlier version (much easier on Mac, I admit!) I tried the automatic way first but it didn’t trigger the removal of the 32 but version.
Then install the 64 bit version. This actually seemed to go much faster than the 32 but version. It’s also been far more stable than the 32 bit version.
In my case, The installer triggers the automatic removal (Lucky, I guess). Either way, It works both for us. I’m very much happy about this smooth migration. My love for Plex has grown.
My server used to struggle to transcode 4L HDR video, but now, it can transcode without any issue.
