As a livetime user, unfortunately I just got the announcement, that furutre PMS versions are not supported on QNAP <QTS 4.3.4.
As I own a QNAP NAS, where the last FW is 4.2.6, i’m more than “unhappy” with this. The 4.2.6 is not that old, as you mention in your forum announcement.
So please, please, please, don’t stop supporting e.g. 4.2.6.
On that page, I do not see any option to select non-Plex Pass builds. After selecting QNAP, it only offers the 1.15.1.791-8bec0f76c build for newer models. Mine is a TS-459 Pro. Installing from the QNAP App Center gets V1 1.13.5.291, but I haven’t been able to get it to run for the last 2 weeks.
Rats. I just installed the 1.13.5 build from the QNAP App Center. I logged in with putty and tried to manually start the server ([/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer] # ./plex.sh start) and got this result:
Starting Plex Media Server…
./Plex Media Server: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
My linux chops are pretty rusty, but I’m guessing this means that QNAP installed a 64 bit package on a 32 bit system? I’ll start a new thread as you suggested. Thanks!
It’s a QNAP TS-459 Pro, running QTS 4.2.6. The file name is PlexMediaServer_1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8_x86_64.zip . Like I said before, this is as installed directly through QNAP App Center. No other option is given there, and the plex.tv download page do not list TS-x59 Pro (I’m assuming my hardware is no longer supported).
You are frozen at QTS 4.2.x and cannot upgrade to QTS 4.3.x ?
Edit:
I have confirmed the QNAP status. If you are unable to update to PMS 4.3.x, PMS 1.15.0 and above will be unavailable to you. This is because we were forced to update one runtime library (about 15 years old) to a version a little newer. The new minimum is glibc 2.14.1 (which is still old given current is 2.28)
Correct, I am capped out at QTS 4.2.6. Makes me feel a bit dumb for having deleted that last QPKG, as I usually kept the last working copy.
While disappointing, i understand the reasoning for the lack of continued support, though I do wish there were some kind of archive maintained somewhere. Thanks again for bearing with a newbie on this.
