Just disabled Synology’s firewall, but not entirely how that would have affected it.
As I’m writing this post when I opened Plex from my DS it would open to http://personal domain:32400 and the server that would appear would be my personal computer (separate from my DS). I run a 4K transcoding server there. The plex server is nowhere to be found, even in the server dropdown menu.
I just manually installed/updated the same 64 bit PMS package and restarting the DS. We’ll see what happens…
Still does not work. I uninstalled PMS and tried re-installing it. Nothing. I’ve uninstalled my other PMS on my desktop for now just to isolate the cause further. Now the connection times out if I try to open the PMS from my DS, if I go to the local ip 192…29:32400 it shows the code below:
Done all those steps.
Well it’s not opening up on Windows or my Mac… I do run a Pihole, but everything worked before so I don’t see why it wouldn’t now. Also, no network settings (to my knowledge) changed after the update.
No current proxy involved. I run a personal VPN on my desktop, but it shouldn’t interfere with a direct connection of my DS to my network switch.
Yes… just about. I run DDNS through my personal domain, so it is http://personal.personal.com:32400/web which is actually throwing the “ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT” flag. I believe the old post I made where I posted the XML was when I was messing with the XML and renaming it to .xml.old in order to force PMS to make a new .XML file. I must have not restarted PMS at that time.
I turned off the firewall of the DS for the sake of trying to isolate the root cause. I have 32400 forwarded through the external connections tab and have tried going into the router and writing in the direct local IP to forward 32400 locally and in the router. Again, this shouldn’t matter since the DS firewall is already down and it’s more for broadcasting to outside the LAN.
Well, the DDNS was what was holding it up. I tried accessing it through my local IP and the server finally initialized and I was able to add my libraries and stuff.
With that being said… are there any talks of adding a DDNS option?
Also, is there a way to bind plex to a specific local IP? My motherboard has two ethernet ports and I want to run a 4K transcoding server through one and everything else with a VPN on the other.
